Job Description

Waters Corporation, a global leader in life sciences, has combined with the BD Biosciences and Diagnostic Solutions business to form a pioneering force in analytical technologies, informatics, and service. Waters is dedicated to advancing the benefits of pioneering science to improve human health globally. The company focuses on regulated, high-volume testing environments and leverages deep scientific expertise across biology, chemistry, and physics to deliver innovative solutions. Waters collaborates closely with analytical laboratories worldwide to accelerate the release of effective, high-quality medicines, ensure the safety of food and water supplies, and enhance patient outcomes by enabling early disease detection, managing infections, and addressing antibiotic resistance. With a passionate team of approximately 16,000 colleagues, Waters is driven by a culture of relentless innovation and a commitment to turning scientific challenges into breakthroughs that benefit lives worldwide.

BD, now part of Waters, is one of the largest global medical technology companies. Its mission to advance the world of health involves the combined efforts of diverse teams—from design and engineering to manufacturing and marketing—to produce billions of MedTech products annually. This requires passion, creativity, and a commitment to finding transformative solutions that turn seemingly impossible goals into reality. BD values the human element within its global teams, fostering an environment where employees are encouraged to learn, grow, and be their best selves.

The role of Machine Operator 1 at BD Waters is a fundamental position focused on supporting production areas with essential machine operations under close supervision. This full-time role typically operates during first shift hours, from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, based in Mebane, NC, USA. The Machine Operator 1 performs basic operational tasks including packaging kits, cleaning machinery, conducting simple in-process quality checks, and completing routine paperwork. The position involves handling basic machine functions such as pulling raw materials, feeding materials into production lines, and troubleshooting common machine faults. Though limited, involvement in machine setup, startup, shutdown, and adjustments is part of this role. Following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and adhering to strict housekeeping and safety policies are critical responsibilities.

This role emphasizes teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to perform semi-routine tasks reliably under supervision. Employees in this role will interact frequently with colleagues and supervisors in a collaborative, safety-conscious, and quality-driven environment. BD prioritizes on-site collaboration, requiring a minimum of four days per week in the office or facility to foster innovation, problem-solving, and operational excellence. The company also maintains health and safety protocols related to COVID-19 vaccinations and testing in alignment with its Workplace Accommodations Policy.

Machine Operator 1 offers an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to contribute to a leading healthcare and life sciences company while gaining experience in manufacturing and machine operation within a supportive environment. BD’s inclusive culture values diversity and equal opportunity and promotes employee development, accountability, and continuous improvement. Individuals committed to advancing healthcare through dedication, teamwork, and innovation will find a rewarding career path at BD Waters.
