The role of Driver, Formula CDL-A at Core-Mark plays a critical part in maintaining the country's food supply chain by ensuring timely and safe delivery of food and food service products to customers. These delivery drivers are more than just drivers; they are the face of the company and essential to building lasting relationships with customers. This position involves driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on a variety of routes including local Monday through Friday day shifts with dispatch times from 1:30 AM to 3:30 AM, shuttles, overnight, over-the-road (OTR), and drive-and-drop routes. The role demands responsibility for all aspects of vehicle safety checks and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations to guarantee products arrive in excellent condition and on schedule.
The Driver, Formula CDL-A will also be engaged in loading and unloading products, verifying delivery quantities with customers, handling and securing freight, and maintaining accurate delivery and service records. The position requires excellent communication skills for professional interaction with customers, vendors, and team members. Attention to detail during pre and post-trip inspections, paperwork completion, and adherence to safety policies is paramount. Drivers also perform housekeeping duties related to the tractor, trailer, and loading dock areas, fostering a clean and safe work environment. Job Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- valid CDL-A license
- minimum 12 months tractor trailer commercial driving experience
- must be 21 years of age or older
- clean driving record for the past 3 years
- meet all state licensing and certification requirements
- pass drug screening and criminal background check
- pass driving road test
- possess or able to obtain valid DOT Health Card
- capable of lifting and moving heavy products using required equipment
- strong communication and teamwork skills
- ability to comply with DOT regulations and safety policies
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- 12 months tractor trailer commercial driving experience
- valid CDL-A
- must be 21+ years of age
- meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
- pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- pass road test
- attains or has valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
- product generally ranges from 10-35 pounds up to approximately 60-90 pounds depending on location
Job Duties
- Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner
- functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company
- performs all required safety checks including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
- reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
- follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
- checks and completes in an accurate and legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight
- moves tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
- drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- unloads products from the trailer, transports items into designated customer storage areas
- performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
- verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
- collects money (cash or checks) where required
- loads customer returns on to trailer and secures trailer doors
- ensures that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured
- unloads damaged goods and customer returns and brings to the driver check-in and completes necessary paperwork
- completes daily record of hours of service and enters in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keeps trailers clear and clean as required
- at the end of the shift secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork
- performs other related duties as assigned
