Job Description
Lutheran Village at Miller's Grant is a distinguished not-for-profit senior living community that prioritizes the well-being and dignity of its residents above all else. Operated under the umbrella of Lutheran Social Ministries of Maryland (LSMMD), the community is renowned for its compassionate care, strong culture of collaboration, and dedication to fostering an environment where both residents and staff feel valued and supported. Located in a serene setting, Lutheran Village at Miller's Grant offers a variety of housing options and services designed to meet the diverse needs of older adults, ranging from independent living to assisted care and memory support. The organization prides itself on integrating comprehensive care with a warm, community-focused approach that emphasizes respect, innovation, and integrity.
The role of PRN Bartender at Lutheran Village at Miller's Grant is a flexible, as-needed position integral to maintaining a welcoming and positive atmosphere within the community. This part-time role offers varied shifts, including evening hours from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on selected days and Sunday shifts from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, with additional opportunities available for those who want to contribute more hours. As a PRN Bartender, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service to guests by professionally greeting them and preparing beverages with precision and appealing presentation. The position requires a keen sense of hospitality and teamwork, as you will work closely with other departments to ensure the seamless execution of events and community activities where the bar service is provided.
Beyond mixing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, the bartender will need to maintain cleanliness, manage inventory, accurately handle cash transactions, and contribute to a positive guest experience. The role also involves preparation and selling of light food items as necessary, ensuring the bar or cart is well-stocked and aesthetically organized at all times. Additional requirements include completing ongoing professional development and training such as Techniques of Alcohol Management (TAM), mandated by the Howard County Board of License Commissioners. This position is not merely about serving drinks; it is about enhancing the social fabric of a community that values every individual, creating moments of joy and connection within the daily lives of residents and staff alike.
Joining the Lutheran Village at Miller's Grant team means aligning with an employer that offers competitive wages, comprehensive health benefits including dental and vision insurance, paid disability and life insurance, robust retirement plans with generous employer contributions, paid time off, professional development support, and scholarships. The organization fosters a culture of caring and collaboration, where respect and community are more than just values — they are the foundation of daily operations. As part of this team, you will be empowered to make a meaningful difference, working in an environment that supports your professional growth and personal well-being while enriching the lives of others through compassionate service.
