We are currently seeking a PRN Bartender to join our dynamic team. This flexible, as-needed position offers the opportunity to work various shifts, including 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on select days and Sundays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, with chances to pick up additional coverage as needed. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy serving others, thrive in a team-oriented environment, and desire a schedule that accommodates their lifestyle.

The PRN Bartender will play a vital role in contributing to the welcoming and warm atmosphere at Lutheran Village at Miller's Grant. Responsibilities include greeting guests professionally, preparing and serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages with attention to detail in presentation, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bar or cart area. This position also involves compliance with cash handling procedures and collaborating with other departments to ensure smooth daily operations. The bartender will perform inventory checks, manage supply orders, and support food service preparations when necessary.

Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
1-2 years bartending experience or formal training preferred and verifiable
must comply with all state and local laws regarding the sale and service of alcoholic beverages as required by the State of Maryland
demonstrated discretion professionalism and sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential matters
excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
ability to work independently and as part of a team
skilled in standard office equipment and technology
physically able to lift up to 25 pounds and assist in resident evacuation during emergencies
complies with organizational health and safety requirements including vaccination policies or valid exemptions

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
1-2 years bartending experience or formal training is preferred and should be verifiable
excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and tactfully with individuals at all levels including residents staff families external vendors authorities and the public
demonstrated discretion professionalism and sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential matters
strong attention to detail in writing proofreading managing priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment demonstrating a cooperative respectful and compassionate approach to colleagues and resident care
skilled in the use of standard office equipment and technology
maintains professionalism composure and a positive attitude when managing challenging situations
physically able to move throughout the workday and lift items up to 25 pounds using safe handling practices

Job Duties

Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner
mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages ensuring proper garnishes and presentation
arrange bar or cart supplies and glassware to create visually appealing displays
maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the bar or cart area at all times
accurately record all sales collect payments and operate the cash register in accordance with facility cash handling procedures
prepare and sell food items as needed
conduct inventory checks assess stock levels and submit orders or requisitions in a timely manner to ensure sufficient supply of all necessary items
adhere to all departmental procedures and facility policies
foster and maintain effective working relationships with team members and other departments to support seamless service
promote a welcoming positive and calm atmosphere throughout the department
attend and actively participate in workshops seminars and in-service training programs
complete TAM training and successfully pass the competency test as required by the Howard County Board of License Commissioners
perform additional duties as assigned
