The company is currently seeking a highly experienced NACE Level III (AMPP CIP Level 3) Coating Inspector to join their team. This role is crucial in overseeing coating inspection activities, providing technical leadership, and ensuring compliance with project specifications, client requirements, and applicable industry standards. The Coating Inspector will act as a subject matter expert for protective coatings, corrosion prevention, and quality assurance while supporting clients across multiple industries. This is a full-time position requiring extensive fieldwork and frequent travel to customer facilities and project sites. The successful candidate will perform and supervise inspections during surface preparation, application, and final acceptance phases, interpret project and client specifications, and verify adherence to standards such as SSPC, NACE/AMPP, ASTM, and ISO. In addition to technical inspection duties, the Coating Inspector will review quality control documentation, conduct failure investigations, mentor junior inspectors, and collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and client representatives. The role demands strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb structures, work in confined spaces, and wear personal protective equipment under varying environmental conditions.

Job Requirements
- current AMPP Coating Inspector Program (CIP) Level 3 certification
- high school diploma or GED
- minimum 7 years of industrial coating inspection experience
- extensive knowledge of corrosion prevention and protective coating systems
- strong understanding of SSPC, ASTM, ISO, and AMPP/NACE standards
- ability to interpret engineering drawings and coating procedures
- excellent communication skills
- strong organizational and problem-solving skills

Job Qualifications

- minimum 7+ years of industrial coating inspection experience
- extensive knowledge of corrosion prevention and protective coating systems
- strong understanding of SSPC standards, ASTM standards, ISO standards, AMPP/NACE standards, surface preparation methods, industrial coating application processes
- ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and coating procedures
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- ability to pass required background screening and drug/alcohol testing
Job Duties
- perform and oversee coating inspections during surface preparation, application, and final acceptance
- interpret project specifications, inspection procedures, and client requirements
- verify compliance with industry standards including SSPC, NACE/AMPP, ASTM, ISO, and client specifications
- review contractor quality control documentation and inspection reports
- conduct coating failure investigations and recommend corrective actions
- perform coating thickness, adhesion, holiday, environmental, and surface profile inspections
- inspect abrasive blasting operations and verify cleanliness standards
- monitor environmental conditions including temperature, humidity, dew point, and surface temperature
- prepare detailed daily inspection reports and final documentation
- witness testing and acceptance activities
- review and approve inspection documentation submitted by Level I and Level II inspectors
- provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior coating inspectors
- coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and client representatives
- participate in pre-job meetings, safety meetings, and project planning sessions
- maintain inspection equipment and ensure calibration records are current
- ensure compliance with company safety policies and client safety procedures
- travel to customer facilities and project sites as required
