Job Description
Roux is a distinguished dining establishment located in the vibrant heart of downtown Salt Lake City. Known for offering a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere, Roux brings a unique culinary experience tailored to lunch guests seeking quality service and delectable offerings. As part of the renowned Heirloom Restaurant Group, Roux prides itself on commitment to exceptional food, drink, and overall dining experience. Opening soon for lunch service, this restaurant emphasizes attention to detail, customer satisfaction, and a flawless balance between casual comfort and upscale elegance. This creates an optimal environment for both patrons and employees to thrive.
The role of the lunch server at Roux is both exciting and integral, especially since the server will independently manage the entire lunch shift. This position calls for a highly skilled, proactive, and personable server capable of overseeing all aspects of lunch service efficiently and professionally. As the sole server on shift, you will take the lead in ensuring smooth operations from start to finish, including greeting guests, taking accurate orders, fostering an inviting atmosphere, and providing thorough knowledge of both the food and beverage menus. The ideal candidate should be familiar with food and beverage nuances, including appetizers, entrees, desserts, and an extensive selection of alcoholic beverages, with an ability to recommend wine and cocktail pairings thoughtfully.
In addition to superb menu knowledge, the server will be responsible for responsible alcohol service, ensuring compliance with local and state laws, verifying customer age, and monitoring consumption to avoid over-service. This role demands a strong customer service approach, handling inquiries, upselling specialty items, and promoting daily specials to enhance each guest's experience. Coordination with kitchen and bar staff is crucial to timely and seamless service delivery, alongside proficiency in managing payment transactions accurately and maintaining a clean, organized dining environment.
Serving from Tuesday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., or alternate shifts including Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday lunches, availability and flexibility are key. This role offers more than just the opportunity to work in a reputable establishment; it provides a chance to develop and refine hospitality skills within a diverse and inclusive team that values excellent service standards and teamwork. Benefits include free food during shifts and insurance reimbursement plans for full-time employees, reflecting the company's commitment to employee welfare. Roux and the Heirloom Restaurant Group foster a workplace with equal employment opportunities ensuring an inclusive and discrimination-free environment for all team members.
