Job Requirements
- 18 years or older
- completion of company orientation
- safety training
- eCommerce online ordering training upon hire
- ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment with detailed and precise tasks
- ability to work with customers attentively
- ability to constantly stand, reach at waist level, and grasp
- ability to occasionally walk, reach overhead, shoulder, knee and floor, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, stair climb, pivot, twist, arm push and pull, pinch, and utilize fine motor skills
- ability to occasionally be exposed to wet, cold, hot conditions and loud noise
- ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- ability to manage weights in excess of 25 pounds safely
- commitment to never lift beyond safe lifting limits
- willingness to ask for assistance when necessary
Job Qualifications
- HS diploma or GED or equivalent
- 1+ years of experience in cake decorating or related field
- knowledge of computer systems and equipment such as PC, symbol, scales, and label machine
- strong customer service skills
- communication and interpersonal skills
- reading and writing skills
- planning and organizing skills
Job Duties
- Provides superior customer service
- takes cake orders from customers by telephone or in person with high accuracy
- answers customer questions regarding products and assists with selections
- uses suggestive selling techniques to meet customer needs and build department sales
- applies proper decorating techniques for each item according to visual training aids to produce quality cakes and pastries
- writes on cakes with icing on request
- reads and executes daily production list through cake flow
- ensures quality control of all products before sending to sales floor per visual training aids
- ensures cake product reaches the showcase and tables at prescribed times
- prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
- slices, packages, labels, and rotates products
- records production and shrink to aid in production planning
- maintains sanitation in work area
- complies with food safety and sanitation standards
- complies with department and store operating procedures
- operates and maintains all equipment properly
