Job Description
The Dane County Alliant Energy Center, located in Madison, Wisconsin, is a premier event and conference venue renowned for hosting a wide variety of events, including concerts, sporting events, trade shows, and community gatherings. This multi-purpose facility offers expansive exhibition halls, meeting rooms, and outdoor spaces, making it an ideal destination for event organizers and attendees alike. Managed by Dane County, the Alliant Energy Center emphasizes a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering an inclusive work environment that values diverse perspectives and encourages continuous learning and teamwork. The center is dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service and high-quality event experiences, supporting events that bring value to the region and community.
The available position is for a Limited Term Employee (LTE) Event Operations Specialist, a vital role within the Alliant Energy Center's event management team. This specialist will act as the manager on duty for events, providing essential support to the AEC Event Coordinators to ensure the seamless execution of event operations. This role involves hands-on management during events, serving as the primary show contact and liaison between event promoters, operations staff, contractors, and emergency responders. The LTE Event Operations Specialist must be able to interpret and analyze detailed event plans, address operational challenges in fast-paced settings, and assist with the coordination of event logistics from start to finish. This position requires flexibility, as work hours may extend beyond typical shifts and include nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-ins. Additionally, LTEs are limited to 1,200 hours in a payroll year and do not have guaranteed weekly hours.
The role demands strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills, as well as the ability to manage high-pressure situations with calmness and sound judgment. Candidates should be proficient in using common office technology and have experience communicating via radio and cell phone during events. Physical stamina is necessary due to the nature of this job, which involves moving quickly across large venues, standing or sitting for extended periods, working in varied weather conditions, and lifting items up to 25 pounds. Prior experience in event management or operations is preferred but not mandatory. This role represents an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in event operations who thrive in dynamic environments and wish to contribute to the success of major events in Dane County. The Alliant Energy Center values diversity and invites applicants from traditionally underrepresented groups to apply, demonstrating a sincere commitment to inclusive excellence and equitable employment practices.
