Job Description
The Dane County Alliant Energy Center, located in Madison, Wisconsin, is a prominent multi-purpose venue known for hosting a wide array of events ranging from concerts, conventions, trade shows, to sporting events. As a community-focused facility, the Alliant Energy Center offers state-of-the-art event spaces and amenities that cater to both public and private clientele. The center is committed to delivering exceptional service and quality experiences for all event attendees and participants. Managed by Dane County, the Alliant Energy Center emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering a welcoming working environment that values multicultural competence and teamwork. The organization encourages applicants from traditionally underrepresented groups including women, racial and ethnic minorities, and persons with disabilities to apply.
The LTE Event Operations Specialist role is a vital position within the Alliant Energy Center’s operations team. As a Limited Term Employee (LTE), individuals in this role are contracted for a maximum of 1,200 hours per payroll year and are not guaranteed a fixed number of hours per week. This role is specifically designed to support event execution by acting as the manager on duty during events held at the center. The specialist works under general supervision and collaborates closely with AEC Event Coordinators to ensure smooth and successful event operations. Candidates must be flexible and available to work beyond standard 8-hour workdays, including nights, weekends, holidays, and during emergencies. This flexibility is essential as event schedules often require on-call availability and the ability to adapt to changing conditions on short notice.
The primary responsibilities include being the main point of contact for events, reading and interpreting detailed event plans, representing the Alliant Energy Center positively to event promoters, coordinating with both in-house staff and third-party contractors, and managing communication through radios and phones. The role also involves escalating issues appropriately, coordinating emergency response if needed, and producing post-event reports in a timely manner. Problem-solving skills in fast-paced, dynamic environments are crucial for success. Physical demands require the ability to navigate the venue efficiently, work in diverse environmental conditions, and lift moderate weights. Proficiency with communication equipment and computer applications, including Microsoft Office, is advantageous. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a dedicated team that delivers memorable events to the community while supporting a mission of equity and inclusivity. Candidates passionate about event operations and customer service will find this role rewarding and impactful within the vibrant setting of the Alliant Energy Center.
