The Mercantile, a distinctive retail location operated by Weavers Way, is situated across from the main Mt. Airy store. It offers an eclectic collection of vintage furniture, handmade pottery, jewelry, artwork, candles, and other unique items crafted by local artisans and vendors. The Mercantile reflects the co-op's deeper commitment to supporting local craftsmanship and sustainable consumption, providing customers with treasures that have stories and character. We are currently seeking an energetic, community-centered individual to join our team as a Mercantile Cashier at our Mt. Airy location. This low-time position is anticipated to require 8-10 hours per week, with weekend availability being essential. The ideal candidate will bring retail and customer service experience, particularly a passion for vintage and antique items, alongside excellent interpersonal skills and reliability. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a community-focused co-op and immerse yourself in an environment where sustainability and local support are paramount.

The Mercantile Cashier will be responsible for creating a welcoming and helpful environment for customers, supporting sales through efficient checkout services, and assisting with store operations such as inventory management, merchandising, and promotional events. The role requires a person who can maintain orderliness, engage with customers about unique and vintage items, and collaborate with fellow team members to ensure smooth daily functions. You will also be instrumental in helping maintain the co-op's mission by promoting sustainable retail practices and supporting local artisans through high-quality customer service.
