As a Lounge Bartender at the Holiday Inn San Jose Silicon Valley, you will be an integral part of The Pub team, responsible for preparing and serving drinks and food in a courteous and professional manner consistent with the hotel’s high standards. This role demands proficiency in mixology and inventory management, as well as the ability to engage guests positively to encourage a memorable hospitality experience. You will handle duties such as properly setting up the bar daily, ensuring that stocks of all beverages, garnishes, condiments, and supplies are sufficient based on forecasted needs. Maintaining the freshness of fruit and vegetable garnishes along with other perishables is crucial to ensuring the quality of the products served. The bartender is also responsible for accurately processing orders and payments, adhering to all applicable laws and corporate policies on alcohol service, and securing the bar area after shifts. Success in this position requires excellent organizational skills, attentiveness to detail, strong customer service abilities, and the stamina to manage physical tasks like handling inventory weighing up to 50 pounds.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • bartending or hospitality experience preferred
  • ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • strong interpersonal skills and positive attitude
  • ability to stand and perform physical tasks for extended periods
  • compliance with alcohol service laws and company policies
  • excellent memory and ability to promote menu items

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis
  • requisition and stock all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers, condiments, and produce based on daily function projections
  • maintain stock, cut, and store all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily
  • greet guests courteously and promote and document drink orders
  • mix, garnish, and present drinks using standard ingredient recipes and portion control
  • abide by all state, federal, and corporate alcohol service regulations
  • input orders into the register and create checks for guests to maintain accountability
  • receive cash, make change, verify charges, and record transactions accurately
  • lock up and store beverage, food, and equipment items securely
  • deposit cash drops and secure bank
  • comply with attendance rules and work regularly
  • perform other job-related duties as assigned
