Job Description

Camping World is a leading retailer specializing in recreational vehicles (RVs), outdoor gear, and camping supplies. Known as the largest supplier in the RV industry, Camping World offers a broad selection of new and used RVs, parts, and services to enhance the outdoor experience for enthusiasts. Founded with a commitment to quality and customer service, the company caters to a diverse customer base ranging from weekend campers to full-time travelers. With numerous locations across the United States, Camping World maintains a steady presence in the retail landscape dedicated to helping people enjoy the outdoors through their products and services.

The role of a Lot Porter at Camping World is integral to ensuring a seamless and efficient lot operation as a part of their first-class service team. This full-time position offers an hourly pay range of $15.02 to $28.71, commensurate with experience, skills, certifications, and business needs. Lot Porters are responsible for managing the movement and parking of RV units while upholding the cleanliness, safety, and professional presentation of the lot.

In this position, individuals will be tasked with driving and carefully maneuvering various types of RVs around the dealership lot, making certain that all units are positioned properly and prepared for sale or display. Beyond operating vehicles, the Lot Porter is also responsible for detailed upkeep, such as installing and removing window prices, maintaining cleanliness through weekly lot washes, and ensuring that aisles, equipment, and vehicles remain orderly and tidy.

Accuracy and attention to detail are critical for documenting maintenance needs and tracking any issues by writing work orders to ensure each unit remains in excellent working condition. The Lot Porter must also maintain physical inventory weekly and ensure equipment security from environmental exposure.

This role requires hands-on tasks such as sweeping, picking up trash, emptying garbage cans, and performing minor repairs or identifying vehicles with problems. The Lot Porter must keep the work area safe and clean for both customers and coworkers, contributing significantly to the overall customer experience and store appearance.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, experience with towing, the ability to operate yard tractors, forklifts, and RVs along with mechanical aptitude in areas such as generators and slide-out operation. Camping World emphasizes creating a supportive work environment offering competitive pay, paid time off, 401(k), employee assistance programs, and comprehensive health benefits for full-time employees, including medical, dental, and vision coverage. Even part-time associates have access to dental and vision plans.

Safety is paramount in this role, given exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and the physical demands of standing, stooping, and lifting. The company upholds an equal employment opportunity policy, ensuring a diverse and inclusive workplace free from discrimination based on race, gender, religion, age, disability, or other protected factors.

In summary, the Lot Porter position at Camping World represents a vital support role within a dynamic retail environment where attention to safety, presentation, and customer satisfaction is key. Candidates who enjoy active, hands-on work in an outdoor setting with opportunities for ongoing training and career growth may find this role rewarding and impactful within the thriving RV and outdoor lifestyle industry.
