Job Description
Camping World is a leading retailer specializing in recreational vehicles, camping gear, and outdoor lifestyle products across the United States. Known for its comprehensive range of RVs including motorhomes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels, Camping World serves a diverse clientele, catering to both casual campers and serious RV enthusiasts. With its commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service, the company has established a strong presence in the retail and outdoor industries. As a part of their ongoing growth, Camping World offers a stimulating work environment promoting teamwork, personal development, and a passion for the outdoors. The company invests in its employees through extensive training programs, competitive compensation packages, and comprehensive benefits plans that support both work and personal life balance. Including a culture of diversity and inclusion, Camping World values the unique perspectives and experiences that each team member brings to the table.
Currently, Camping World is seeking a Lot Porter to join their first-class service team. This role is integral to the efficient operation and appearance of the dealership’s lot. As a Lot Porter, you will be responsible for handling recreational vehicle movements, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring that all units are properly prepared and presented for customers. This position requires someone who is physically active, detail-oriented, and capable of operating various equipment safely and proficiently. The Lot Porter role involves tasks such as maneuvering RVs in a timely manner, managing window price displays, conducting lot washes, and keeping the inventory organized and secure. Additionally, Lot Porters will write work orders to track issues and help ensure that all units are in proper working condition before reaching customers. The ability to operate yard tractors and forklifts, as well as understanding generator use and the mechanical aspects of RV slide-outs, will contribute to success in this role.
The ideal candidate will hold a high school diploma or equivalent and have some towing experience, though training is available. Proficiency in driving RVs and a valid driver’s license with a clean record are essential. The work environment involves physical demands including lifting up to 50 pounds with assistance, extended periods of standing, and exposure to various environmental conditions such as heat, cold, noise, and humidity. Safety is paramount, and the Lot Porter must maintain a work area that is both safe and welcoming for customers and coworkers alike.
Compensation for this position ranges between $15.02 and $28.71 hourly, reflecting factors such as experience, skills, and certifications. Beyond a competitive wage, Camping World offers a robust benefits package including paid time off, 401(k), employee assistance programs, and access to good Sam roadside assistance. Full-time employees enjoy comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, while part-time employees have access to dental and vision benefits. The company emphasizes equal employment opportunities, valuing diversity and prohibiting discrimination based on race, gender, religion, age, disability, veteran status, and other protected categories. This role promises growth, career advancement, and the chance to be part of a dynamic team focused on customer satisfaction and outdoor living.
