Job Description
Cox Automotive is a leading technology and services company dedicated to transforming the way people buy, own, and sell vehicles. With a strong portfolio of consumer brands such as Autotrader and Kelley Blue Book, alongside dealer-facing companies like vAuto and Manheim, Cox Automotive fosters a collaborative and innovative environment. This company is committed to delivering exceptional experiences for drivers, dealers, and buyers by leveraging cutting-edge technology and a people-centered workplace culture. Cox Automotive provides competitive compensation and benefits, including healthcare, retirement planning, and generous paid time off. Employment with Cox Automotive means joining a team that values diversity, equal opportunity, and professional growth, with no discrimination based on age, race, gender, disability, or veteran status. The company also emphasizes reasonable accommodations for employees with disabilities and requires employees to be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
The role of Lane Leader at Cox Automotive is vital to ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of vehicle movement through the auction process. As a Lane Leader, you will coordinate and direct the physical movement of vehicles from the sales lane to the block and parking areas after the auction event. This position involves making and overseeing the assignments of drivers, jump start or battery operators, and push truck operators. The Lane Leader plays a key role in promoting a continuous flow of traffic through auctioning activities, addressing operational issues such as missing or inoperable vehicles, and maintaining accurate records related to vehicle status. Additionally, the Lane Leader is responsible for conducting pre-sale meetings with drivers to communicate routes and plans, conducting inspections of equipment, and responding to customer and dealer inquiries and concerns. This role requires hands-on supervision of parking and re-parking efforts for sold and non-sold vehicles alike, ensuring organizational efficiency and customer satisfaction throughout the auction event.
The Lane Leader role requires a keen attention to detail, strong leadership skills, and the ability to operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED with three years of relevant experience or equivalent combinations of education and experience. The position demands basic mechanical knowledge to identify vehicle issues such as flat tires, low gas levels, or jump-start needs. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with auction operations, lot layout, and familiarity with lane management systems such as LDM. The position requires standing and walking for prolonged periods, the ability to lift between 1 and 15 pounds, and working in outdoor weather conditions with moderate noise levels, reflecting a physically active and engaged role. Cox Automotive offers an hourly pay rate ranging from $15.10 to $22.69, with potential bonuses and incentives based on performance. This position is suitable for individuals who are self-motivated and customer-focused, with a commitment to safety and operational excellence in a dynamic auction environment.
