Job Description
Target Corporation is a Fortune 50 company renowned as one of America’s leading retailers with a workforce of over 400,000 team members globally. Known for its dedication to helping families discover the joy of everyday life, Target has entrenched itself as an iconic brand in the retail sector. The company places a strong emphasis on caring for the communities in which it operates, investing significantly in the environments where people live, work, and play. Target’s corporate culture prioritizes meaningful relationships, talent development, and growth opportunities, fostering a unified team environment where success is shared collectively. The company upholds core values that reflect how it cares for its team members, grows as an organization, and wins together in the market.
The Yard Operations Manager (YOM) role at Target offers a dynamic opportunity for individuals passionate about leadership, safety, and operational excellence within logistics and supply chain management. This position focuses on maintaining a 'safety first' culture across yard operations by promoting awareness, training, execution, and accountability. As the YOM, you will oversee all yard functions and manage third-party logistics (3PL) carriers, ensuring that all yard activities comply with safety regulations and operational standards. You will work collaboratively with site teams and logistics leaders to create a safe and efficient work environment for drivers and team members entering Target’s distribution yard. The role demands a sharp focus on problem-solving where identifying root causes and implementing solutions within a controlled risk environment is critical.
Responsibilities extend to coordinating with multiple groups including Distribution Leadership, Carrier Partners, Asset Protection, and Headquarters teams. You will identify gaps in processes and drive continuous improvements through tool development and automation to optimize yard operations. The position requires effective communication and coordination to ensure that operational plans are executed with urgency and precision while upholding safety standards. This leadership role is also pivotal in supporting team goals, optimizing efficiencies, and championing change initiatives that enhance service delivery and meet business objectives.
Target offers a competitive salary range of $73,000 to $132,000, which varies based on labor market factors, education, experience, and certifications. Beyond pay, Target invests in its team members’ well-being with comprehensive health benefits including medical, vision, dental, and life insurance, alongside financial and educational support options. Additional benefits such as 401(k), employee discounts, short and long-term disability, paid sick leave, national holidays, and vacation underscore Target’s commitment to fostering a supportive work environment. The Yard Operations Manager role is ideal for professionals with at least three years of supply chain experience, leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to safety and team development within a logistics setting. This position may require flexible working hours as many Target facilities operate around the clock, reflecting the fast-paced and evolving nature of supply chain logistics.
