Job Description
Hub Group Final Mile is a specialized transportation and logistics provider focused on the final leg of the delivery process, ensuring that goods and products reach their destination accurately and on time. As part of the larger Hub Group network, known for comprehensive freight management solutions, Hub Group Final Mile distinguishes itself by offering tailored services concentrated on residential and commercial deliveries. Their expertise spans across a variety of delivery scenarios, including appliance delivery, which demands precise handling, professional installation skills, and a commitment to exceptional customer service. The company prides itself on fostering independent contractors and owner operators, empowering them to operate efficiently within the well-established framework and support system provided by Hub Group Final Mile. Based in Cincinnati, OH, they seek motivated individuals who are looking to establish or expand their delivery businesses in a way that offers independence yet provides the stability of working with a reputable logistics partner.
This opportunity is for Non-CDL Independent Contractors who own or lease a 26-foot box truck equipped with a liftgate, enabling them to handle appliance delivery and installation tasks effectively. The role focuses on creating a seamless experience for customers receiving major household appliances such as refrigerators, microwaves, dishwashers, washers, dryers, and more. Contractors operate locally, with the convenience of being home daily, making this an attractive option for those seeking a balance between work and home life. The pay scale is competitive, with the possibility of grossing up to $5,500 per week per truck, highlighting the potential for substantial earnings based on dedication and efficiency.
Contractor teams typically consist of a driver paired with a helper, combining driving responsibilities with assistance for unloading and installation. This setup ensures appliances are handled safely and installed according to manufacturer specifications. Prospective contractors must hold a valid driver’s license with a corresponding clean driving record and maintain active regulatory compliance via MC Operating Authority and DOT numbers with the FMCSA - or the willingness to obtain them. This regulatory adherence ensures safety, accountability, and professionalism in all delivery and installation operations.
The role requires technical aptitude for appliance installation, involving basic assembly, adjustments, and the capacity to follow detailed instructions to guarantee that installations are done correctly and efficiently. Attention to detail and customer interaction skills are critical, as contractors represent the final touchpoint between the product and the consumer. Hub Group Final Mile supports contractors with weekly settlements, direct deposit options, and access to online resources to manage payments and schedules effectively.
Overall, this role is ideal for experienced appliance installers or those eager to learn the trade, offering an excellent platform to grow an independent delivery and installation business with the backing of a national logistics leader. It blends the independence of contracting with the resources and steady demand driven by Hub Group Final Mile’s strong market presence.
