Job Description

Sofar is a pioneering live event company founded in London in 2009 with the mission to revitalize the magic of live music experiences. Over the years, Sofar has grown into a global movement that goes beyond music to include comedy, singles, dance, and more, all while maintaining its reputation for discovering and promoting rising talent. This innovative company provides artists with a professional platform that bridges physical and digital spaces, managing everything from booking and promotion to audience engagement. Sofar’s ecosystem offers artists valuable opportunities, including brand partnerships, powerful content creation, and global media placements. The company’s unique events take place in diverse and extraordinary locations such as ski jumps, caves, boats, hidden museum rooms, private living rooms, gardens, and rooftops. These intimate settings ensure audiences are fully immersed in the performances, using their devices not as distractions but as tools to support the artists and stay connected with the community. Employees at Sofar are deeply passionate about live music and community building, and they find joy in creating memorable fan experiences that resonate worldwide. Working at Sofar means being part of a team that is as enthusiastic about discovering new music and talent as the artists themselves.

The Freelance Local Producer role at Sofar is an entrepreneurial, commission-based position designed for self-starters who are eager to take full ownership of how Sofar presents itself in their local community. Candidates for this hybrid role must be based in their designated city, as much of the work involves local engagement during evenings and weekends when events occur. Producers become part of a global network of community builders and tastemakers, sharing knowledge, resources, and learning opportunities while shaping the cultural landscape of their city. This role requires someone with strong business instincts, local cultural awareness, and a robust network, which includes artists, venues, brands, and community organizations. Producers are responsible for event planning and curation, marketing and promotion, and flawless event execution. Responsibilities include developing and executing strategies for local events, managing financial performance, booking diverse, high-quality talent and venues, driving ticket sales through creative marketing, and building partnerships with local businesses and organizations. The role offers considerable autonomy complemented with global support, training, and opportunities to collaborate with other local leaders and Sofar’s Global Communities team. Compensation is commission-based, with earnings ranging from $100 to $500+ per event depending on ticket sales and event success. Sofar encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds and experiences to apply, emphasizing a culture of belonging and lifelong passion for music and community building.
