Job Description

Sofar is a globally recognized live music and entertainment company founded in London in 2009, dedicated to revitalizing the magic of live performances by creating unique, intimate experiences across the world. From its humble beginnings in a London flat, Sofar has blossomed into a dynamic cultural movement, spanning a variety of genres including music, comedy, and dance. The company is widely known for its exceptional track record of discovering and promoting rising talent. Artists such as Billie Eilish, Jack Harlow, Hozier, and Olivia Dean have all graced Sofar stages early in their careers, turning their performances into pivotal moments in their artistic journeys. Sofar’s innovative approach combines carefully curated live events held in unconventional locations—from private living rooms and rooftops to caves and ski jumps—with digital engagement, creating an immersive environment where audiences interact deeply with the performance and community.

Sofar’s ethos centers on authentic fan experiences, creatively integrating technology to support artists and maintain community connections without distraction. Employees at Sofar are passionate about the arts, the power of community, and fostering meaningful cultural moments. If you are passionate about live events and artist development, this company offers a vibrant and supportive environment where innovation and creativity thrive.

The role available at Sofar is for a Freelance Local Producer, an entrepreneurial position perfect for self-starters who want autonomy and ownership over the brand’s presence in their local city. Although the role is hybrid, candidates must be based in the designated city to effectively engage with the community and networks essential to producing shows. This freelance role operates on a commission-based compensation model, with pay ranging from $100 to $500+ per event depending on ticket prices, show volume, and performance. The position involves event planning and curation, marketing, promotion, and on-the-ground event execution. Freelance Local Producers work closely with Sofar’s Global Communities team to access training, resources, and global networking opportunities, while independently managing their local scene.

Producers will leverage their deep local connections, entrepreneurial spirit, and cultural fluency to promote and sell tickets, curate diverse artists and venues, and foster relationships with local businesses and community organizations. This role requires excellent business instincts, creativity to overcome event challenges, and a proactive mindset. The work schedule is flexible and self-directed, largely occurring during evenings and weekends when live events naturally take place. Producers must be adept at managing the financial performance of their events and driving growth through innovative strategies that enhance the community’s engagement and the Sofar brand’s visibility.

Ideal candidates are cultural connectors and natural networkers who thrive in independent roles but understand the value of collaboration within a broader team and market. Sofar values diversity, inclusion, and a culture of belonging and encourages applicants from varied backgrounds even if they don't meet every qualification exactly. The company also utilizes AI tools as supportive resources in the hiring process, ensuring a fair and comprehensive evaluation while maintaining human oversight in all final decisions.
