Job Description
Sofar is a dynamic global music and live events company that began in London in 2009, focused on revitalizing the live music scene. Starting as a small gathering in a London flat, Sofar has blossomed into an influential movement that not only celebrates live music but has expanded into comedy, dance, and other performance genres. Sofar is recognized for its commitment to discovering rising talent and providing artists a professional platform that bridges both physical and digital realms. The company handles all aspects of booking, promotion, and audience engagement, giving artists unique opportunities including brand partnerships, content creation, and global media exposure. Sofar events are uniquely curated experiences that are hosted in unconventional locations like ski jumps, caves, boats, museums, private living spaces, gardens, and rooftops. Each event is designed to create intimate, immersive, and memorable experiences where audiences engage deeply with the performances and community. The people who work at Sofar are deeply passionate about music and live performance, often found attending shows or sharing discoveries about new artists. Team members are motivated by the opportunity to support artist development and create unforgettable fan experiences globally.
The Freelance Local Producer role at Sofar offers an exciting opportunity for entrepreneurial individuals passionate about live event creation and community building. As part of a global network, you will work independently to shape and grow Sofar's presence in your city by curating, marketing, and producing high-quality live experiences. Producers activate local networks including artists, venues, brands, and community partners to deliver Sofar's unique events and expand cultural engagement. The role requires strong business instincts, cultural fluency, proactive problem-solving, and creative marketing to ensure the financial success and high quality of shows. Responsibilities cover the full lifecycle of local event production, from strategy and artist booking to promotion and on-site execution. You will also collaborate with other local and global teams and have access to training and resources. This freelance, commission-based partnership is ideal for motivated self-starters who want ownership and flexibility in how Sofar grows in their market, typically working evenings and weekends when live events happen. Compensation varies based on ticket prices, show volume, and event success, with earnings ranging between $100-$500+ per event. Working alongside other Producers in larger cities or shared markets will also be part of this collaborative role. If you are passionate about music, community, live events, and have demonstrated experience in event production, marketing, and sponsorship sales, this role offers a meaningful chance to shape your city's cultural landscape while growing professionally in a supportive, innovative environment.
