Job Description

Sofar is a globally recognized live music and cultural events company founded in 2009 in London. It emerged as a passionate response to the decline in the magic of live music experiences and has since grown into a worldwide movement that not only focuses on music but also embraces comedy, singles, dance, and other art forms. Sofar is known for its unique approach to showcasing emerging talent, providing artists with a professional platform that spans both physical venues and digital spaces. This platform supports artists in booking, promotion, audience building, and offers access to an ecosystem rich with opportunities such as brand partnerships, content production, and global media exposure. Sofar’s reputation is bolstered by having been an early stage platform for now-renowned mainstage performers including Billie Eilish, Jack Harlow, and Leon Bridges, among others.

Sofar events take place in a variety of stunning and unconventional locations ranging from ski jumps and caves to private gardens and rooftops, each curated to offer audiences an intimate and immersive experience. Audience members are encouraged to fully engage in the live performances, using their devices to support artists and stay connected to the community rather than as distractions. Employees and collaborators at Sofar share a deep passion for music and culture, often sharing their enthusiasm for new music discoveries and live events off the clock.

The Freelance Local Producer role at Sofar invites ambitious and entrepreneurial community builders to drive the brand’s presence in their designated cities. Working in a hybrid capacity but required to be based locally, this role demands a blend of creativity, business acumen, and cultural insight to nurture and expand the Sofar community through unique live experiences. The Producer is responsible for event planning, curation, marketing, promotion, and execution of live shows in their local area. These producers work independently, embracing significant ownership and responsibility to shape how Sofar connects with local audiences and artists.

Producers are expected to possess strong local networks, connecting with artists, venues, brands, and community stakeholders to deliver memorable events that align with Sofar’s unique brand identity. They manage everything from ticket sales and event financial performance to staffing and curation, ensuring top-quality hospitality and artist experiences. As a freelancer on a commission-based model, Producers have the flexibility to set their schedules, primarily concentrating their efforts during evenings and weekends coinciding with event timings.

This role is dynamic and entrepreneurial, ideal for candidate self-starters who thrive working autonomously while maintaining close relationships with a global team. The position provides extensive resources, training, and collaborative opportunities through Sofar’s Global Communities team, fostering a network of like-minded cultural leaders worldwide. The remuneration is commission-based, ranging from $100 to $500 or more per event, depending on ticket prices, volume, and event success. The opportunity includes the chance to significantly impact the cultural landscape of a city, expanding Sofar’s brand while driving community engagement and artist support. If you have a passion for live events, a pulse on your local cultural scene, and enjoy leading with ownership and creativity, this role offers a compelling platform to develop your talents and contribute to an innovative global movement.
