Job Description

Sofar is a globally recognized live entertainment company founded in London in 2009. It started as a solution to the decline of magic in live music experiences and has since grown into a global movement that champions live music, comedy, dance, and singles. Sofar is renowned for its talent discovery and has been a launchpad for numerous mainstage performers such as Billie Eilish, Jack Harlow, Hozier, and many others early in their careers. The company offers artists a professional platform that combines the physical and digital realms, providing support in booking, promotion, and audience engagement. Sofar's events, held in unique venues like caves, rooftops, living rooms, and museums, create intimate, immersive fan experiences where audiences engage deeply with the performance.

Sofar’s global team shares a passion for discovering and supporting artists while crafting memorable live experiences worldwide. The company culture reflects a love for live music and community-building through creative events.

The role of Freelance Local Producer at Sofar is a unique opportunity for entrepreneurial people who thrive as community builders and cultural tastemakers. This hybrid role requires candidates to be based in the designated city. As a Local Producer, you become part of a global network collaborating with peers to shape your city's cultural landscape by producing high-quality live events. You will benefit from Sofar’s global resources, training, and community support, while enjoying the autonomy to own your market’s strategy.

This position focuses on event planning and curation, marketing and promotion, and event execution. As a Local Producer, you will activate your deep local connections to artists, venues, brands, and community partners to create impactful pop-up experiences that forge meaningful real-life engagement. You will lead event curation, venue booking, staff coordination, and financial performance management. Additionally, building relationships to drive sponsorship and partnership sales is essential to expanding Sofar’s reach and sustainability in your city.

This freelance commission-based role offers flexibility and ownership paired with accountability and initiative. The work mainly takes place during evenings and weekends when live events occur. Compensation varies per show based on ticket sales, volume, and event success, ranging typically between $100-$500+ per event. Collaboration with other local Producers may be required in larger cities with multiple markets.

Sofar is deeply committed to fostering a culture of belonging and diversity, encouraging applications even if candidates do not meet every listed qualification. Use of AI tools may support the hiring process but decisions are human-made.
