Job Description

Sofar is a dynamic and internationally recognized event platform that was founded in London in 2009 to restore the magic and intimacy of live music experiences. Since its inception, Sofar has evolved into a global movement that not only celebrates live music but also embraces other art forms such as comedy, dance, and singles. Renowned for discovering and elevating emerging talent, Sofar offers a unique stage that has launched the careers of notable artists including Billie Eilish, Jack Harlow, Leon Bridges, and many more. The company is committed to creating memorable, intimate fan experiences by hosting events in unconventional and distinctive venues—ranging from private living rooms and rooftops to caves and ski jumps. Every event emphasizes presence and engagement, encouraging audiences to connect deeply with artists and community, using digital tools as a means of support rather than distraction.

As a Freelance Local Producer at Sofar, you become part of an entrepreneurial network of cultural innovators and community builders who influence and shape the artistic and cultural landscapes in their cities. This hybrid role demands that candidates be based in the designated city to foster strong local engagement. This flexible, commission-based position offers autonomy and ownership over how the Sofar brand is represented and experienced locally. Freelance Local Producers have a hands-on role that encompasses event planning, curation, marketing, promotion, and execution. You will have the opportunity to develop and implement a strategic vision for events in your city, including deciding on show themes, locations, and schedules. The role is tailored for proactive self-starters who thrive on challenges such as creatively selling tickets, managing live event logistics, and negotiating partnerships.

Working closely with Sofar’s Global Communities team, Producers receive access to extensive training, resources, and a worldwide network of peers. Establishing and maintaining relationships with artists, venues, brands, and community organizations are key to successfully growing Sofar’s reach and impact. This role requires a passion for live events, strong business acumen, cultural fluency, and an ability to build meaningful community connections. Freelance Local Producers earn competitive commission-based pay per event, with compensation varying based on ticket sales, event volume, and performance, typically ranging between $100 and $500 plus per event. The flexibility of the position allows for a balance between autonomy and collaboration, especially in cities where multiple Producers may work together across different neighborhoods or verticals.

Sofar prides itself on fostering a culture rooted in passion for music and discovery, where team members and contractors alike share a commitment to creating enriching experiences for artists and audiences. Even if your background does not perfectly match the role, Sofar encourages diverse applicants who bring various perspectives and lived experiences. The company also embraces the responsible use of artificial intelligence tools in its hiring process to support decision-making while maintaining human final judgment. Overall, this position combines the excitement of event production with the thrill of engaging and growing a vibrant local community under a globally recognized brand.
