TForce Freight is currently expanding its dynamic logistics team and is seeking a motivated Local Driver to join its growing workforce. The Local Driver position offers a competitive starting pay ranging from $29.50 to $33.95 per hour, and includes attractive benefits such as pension plans, 401K, paid time off, and excellent wages, among others. The Local Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of commercial vehicles, primarily tractor and trailer units, to deliver freight to various customer locations within designated local routes. This role requires adherence to strict safety protocols and transportation regulations at local, state, and federal levels to ensure that all freight is handled and transported securely. Essential duties include pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, cargo loading and securing, accurate record-keeping of driving logs and cargo condition, and maintaining clear communication with dispatch management regarding schedules and any unforeseen issues.

Candidates must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with endorsements that may include Hazmat, tanker, and doubles. The position requires a minimum age of 21 years and demand compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and company safety standards. It is essential for applicants to demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills alongside impeccable customer service abilities. Effective communication in English and legal authorization to work in the U.S. are required. Furthermore, applicants must provide a complete 10-year employment history in line with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.

Job Duties

  • Operate a commercial vehicle transporting goods to various locations safely and efficiently
  • Ensure all cargo is loaded and secured properly before departure
  • Provide excellent customer service by ensuring timely deliveries and handling any customer inquiries or concerns
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and report any maintenance needs
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal transportation regulations and safety protocols
  • Maintain accurate logs for driving hours, routes traveled and cargo conditions
  • Communicate with the dispatch management team regarding schedules, delays and any issues that may arise during transportation
