We are currently looking for a dependable Local Driver to join our expanding logistics team. This role is essential in delivering outstanding service to our customers by transporting freight safely and efficiently. The Local Driver is responsible for the operation of a commercial tractor and trailer, ensuring timely delivery and accurate handling of cargo within the local area. This position requires a strong safety orientation, excellent communication skills, and a positive, customer-focused attitude. The Local Driver will serve as the face of TForce Freight, representing the company with professionalism and reliability at each customer interaction.

This is an hourly position offering a competitive wage of $33.90 per hour along with a robust benefits package that includes pension plans, 401K options, paid time off, and various other employee benefits. The role requires strict adherence to all Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and company policies, especially those concerning safety and compliance. The Local Driver will perform vital duties such as conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, securing cargo properly, and maintaining accurate logs of driving hours and routes. Additionally, the driver will work closely with dispatch and other logistics personnel to ensure smooth scheduling and promptly communicate any issues or delays encountered on the road.

Job Requirements

  • Valid class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in resident state
  • Hazmat, tanker and doubles endorsements
  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • Meet all DOT and company requirements
  • Ability to perform essential job functions safely without risk
  • Proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English
  • U.S. citizenship or authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Ten years of complete employment history in accordance with FMCSA regulations

Job Duties

  • Operate a commercial vehicle transporting goods to various locations safely and efficiently
  • Ensure all cargo is loaded and secured properly before departure
  • Provide excellent customer service by ensuring timely deliveries and handling any customer inquiries or concerns
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and report any maintenance needs
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal transportation regulations and safety protocols
  • Maintain accurate logs for driving hours, routes traveled and cargo conditions
  • Communicate with the dispatch management team regarding schedules, delays and any issues that may arise during transportation
