The Delivery Driver role at Edward Don & Company is an essential position that focuses on the timely and accurate delivery of merchandise to customers following a predetermined route. This position requires individuals who can safely operate commercial vehicles, handle merchandise with care, and maintain professional communication with both customers and management. Delivery drivers are responsible for unloading and verifying merchandise at each stop, handling returns as authorized, and completing all necessary paperwork and reporting at the end of each day. This full-time role operates Monday through Friday with shifts approximately 9 to 11 hours long. Start times vary between 5:45 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., with end times between 2:15 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The position offers a competitive starting wage of $21.73 per hour, with potential increases up to $0.50 every six months over a three-year period. Safety is a top priority in this role, and candidates must maintain current DOT Medical Certification and comply with all DOT regulations. The physical demands include lifting between 60 to 100 pounds during loading and unloading at 15 to 30 stops daily and performing activities like bending, stooping, climbing, and twisting.

Candidates must be prepared to operate commercial vehicles in a variety of traffic and weather conditions, demonstrating strong organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication. The role also entails compliance with OSHA standards for safety and housekeeping duties within the company. Successful drivers will excel in customer relations, follow company procedures, and work independently while maintaining ongoing communications regarding routing, safety, and service quality. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • one year of safe commercial driving experience
  • valid class A or B commercial driver’s license
  • current DOT Medical Certification
  • ability to bend stoop climb twist stand and lift between 60-100 lbs
  • ability to sit and drive for extended periods
  • ability to work Monday through Friday shifts starting between 5:45-6:30 am and ending between 2:15-3:00 pm

Job Qualifications

  • High school or GED or equivalent
  • one-year route delivery experience or applicable background driving a straight truck
  • valid Commercial Driver’s License - Class B (Class A preferred)
  • ability to read and understand English
  • operate vehicle in a variety of traffic and weather conditions
  • meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the company
  • meet or exceed established cases per error goals
  • demonstrate strong customer relations and problem resolution skills
  • effectively plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision

Job Duties

  • Deliver merchandise according to pre-determined route
  • unload correct merchandise and check order noting any corrections
  • complete all assigned reports and paperwork at end of day
  • communicate with manager any system or documentation problems identified throughout the day
  • pick-up returned merchandise per return authorization
  • comply with all DOT safety and documentation regulations
  • perform safety and housekeeping duties as they pertain to Edward Don and Company and OSHA standards
  • effectively communicate to customers and all levels of staff
  • perform other duties as assigned
