Sysco is currently seeking candidates for a Delivery Driver position based in the 33815 zip code area. This role primarily involves the safe and timely delivery of merchandise to customers according to predetermined routes. The job requires individuals who possess a keen attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Delivery Drivers at Sysco play an essential role in maintaining high standards of customer service by ensuring accurate and efficient delivery of orders. This role typically involves working approximately 9 to 11-hour shifts, starting between 5:45 AM and 6:30 AM and concluding between 2:15 PM and 3:00 PM, with no travel beyond local delivery routes. Drivers must maintain compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including securing a current DOT Medical Certification. Candidates will be responsible for safely operating vehicles such as straight trucks, loading and unloading merchandise frequently weighing between 60 to 100 pounds, and managing 15 to 30 stops per day.

In addition to handling deliveries, the job requires communicating effectively with management and customers to resolve potential issues, reporting any system or documentation problems encountered during deliveries, and adhering to OSHA standards related to safety and housekeeping. Drivers also perform pick-ups of returned merchandise authorized by the company. Sysco values employees who demonstrate strong customer relations and problem-solving skills, work independently with minimal supervision, and maintain effective inter-department communications related to routing, safety, and customer service. The compensation for this position is approximately $21.73 per hour, with pay rates potentially adjusted based on specific skill sets, work location, experience, and other individualized factors. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum one year of safe commercial driving experience with a class A or B CDL
  • ability to maintain current DOT Medical Certification
  • compliance with all DOT regulations
  • ability to bend stoop climb twist stand and lift between 60-100 lbs while loading and unloading
  • ability to sit and drive for extended periods
  • ability to lift product up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 80 lbs infrequently
  • ability to climb on and off the box of the truck

Job Qualifications

  • High school or GED or equivalent
  • one-year route delivery experience or applicable background driving a straight truck
  • valid commercial driver's license - class B (class A preferred)
  • must be able to read and understand English

Job Duties

  • Deliver merchandise according to pre-determined route
  • unload correct merchandise and check order noting any corrections
  • complete all assigned reports and paperwork at the end of day
  • communicate with manager any system or documentation problems identified throughout the day
  • pick-up returned merchandise per return authorization
  • comply with all DOT safety and documentation regulations
  • perform safety and housekeeping duties as they pertain to Edward Don and Company and OSHA standards
  • effectively communicate to customers and all levels of staff
  • perform other duties as assigned
