The role of a Local Delivery Driver at Batesville, located in San Leandro, CA, is pivotal to the successful operation of the company’s product delivery services. This position entails safely operating Commercial Motor Vehicles (such as straight trucks or vans) in compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies and procedures. The delivery driver is responsible for transporting products, specifically caskets, to customer locations within a designated local area. A critical component of this role involves safe and courteous delivery and unloading of these products, emphasizing both customer satisfaction and adherence to safety standards.

This job is a safety-sensitive position that requires ongoing adherence to rigorous safety protocols and participation in training or orientation to stay aligned with company standards. Drivers will use electronic logging devices (ELDs) for accurate record-keeping of hours of service and must maintain familiarity with related technology to troubleshoot and comply with regulatory requirements. The job also includes responsibilities such as vehicle inspection and maintenance, upholding work standards, and fostering positive customer relationships. Batesville equips some vehicles with rear and forward-facing cameras to enhance safety and monitoring measures.

Scheduled on a flexible basis, the Local Delivery Driver role demands readiness to work varying shifts, including weekends and any days necessary to meet customer demand. This position requires the ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting equipment and products weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and over 100 pounds occasionally. The expected pay rate for this position is $26.03 per hour, with actual compensation influenced by qualifications, skills, and experience.

In joining Batesville, employees gain access to comprehensive benefits immediately, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, prescription coverage, short-term disability, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) matching program. There is also paid time off and opportunities for career development and advancement, underscoring Batesville’s commitment to employee well-being and growth.

Overall, this role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a company that makes a real difference in people’s lives while providing a supportive work environment where safety, customer service, and professional development are prioritized.
