Job Description

Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a prominent leader in the U.S. market for industrial, medical, and specialty gases, along with hardgoods and related products. With a workforce of approximately 18,000 associates, Airgas is known for fostering a culture rooted in safety, innovation, sustainability, and customer success. As a subsidiary of the global Air Liquide group, which operates in 60 countries and employs around 66,500 people, Airgas benefits from a vast network and extensive expertise in gases and technologies that support various industries and healthcare sectors. This connection to a multinational leader underscores Airgas's commitment to quality, efficiency, and responsible business practices.

The company highly values diversity and inclusiveness, making concerted efforts to create a work environment where all employees can share unique perspectives and experiences. This commitment extends beyond internal culture to encompass relations with customers, patients, community stakeholders, and cultural diversity across the globe. Airgas promotes equal employment opportunities and provides reasonable accommodations to ensure that the workplace is accessible for individuals with disabilities.

The role of Local Delivery Driver at Airgas, located in Houston, TX at the Knight Road Retail Shop, is a vital position within the company’s service and delivery operations. This is a full-time role, offering a competitive pay rate of $26 per hour, along with the possibility of receiving quarterly bonuses based on performance. The work schedule is Monday through Friday on the day shift, providing a reliable routine that supports work-life balance.

As a Local Delivery Driver, also referred to as a Service and Delivery Professional, you will be responsible for the safe and reliable delivery of compressed gas cylinders to customers both within the local Houston area and the surrounding region. Deliveries are typically performed with company-provided straight or box trucks. The driver plays a crucial role in managing the logistics of cylinder flow, which includes loading, unloading, and ensuring the return of empty or unsold cylinders to designated Airgas branches or plants for refilling. This hands-on position not only requires adherence to safety procedures but also the ability to build and maintain long-lasting relationships with customers, serving as an ambassador for Airgas's brand and values.

Safety and regulatory compliance are paramount in this position. The driver must strictly follow Airgas’s SAFECOR safety standards and comply with industry regulations from federal bodies such as the Department of Transportation (DOT), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). These regulations ensure that all deliveries are conducted securely and within legal guidelines, especially given the hazardous nature of some cargo.

In addition to delivery duties, the driver may provide warehouse support, assisting with dock operations when necessary. This reinforces the collaborative team environment within Airgas, where employees support each other's roles to enhance overall service quality.

Airgas fosters a culture of personal growth and career advancement, encouraging internal mobility for its employees. The company supports its team members through comprehensive benefits designed to support their health, family, and future security. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, sick time, and special parental leave benefits. They also facilitate early access to benefits after just 30 days of employment, demonstrating their commitment to employee welfare from the onset of employment.

Joining Airgas as a Local Delivery Driver means becoming part of a respected and established industrial gas supplier, enjoying competitive pay and the security of a progressive company with a focus on safety, innovation, and employee wellbeing. The role requires a blend of technical skill, customer service, and physical capability, providing a dynamic and rewarding professional experience within a supportive team environment.
