Job Description

Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a leading U.S. supplier of industrial, medical, and specialty gases, as well as hardgoods and related products. It is one of the largest suppliers of safety products across the U.S., and a prominent supplier of ammonia products and process chemicals. With a workforce of approximately 18,000 associates, Airgas fosters a culture centered on safety, customer success, sustainability, and innovation. The company empowers its employees to share ideas, take initiative, and make decisions that benefit both the company and its customers.

Airgas is a subsidiary of Air Liquide, a global leader in gases, technologies, and services for industry and healthcare, operating in 60 countries with about 66,500 employees, serving over 4 million customers and patients. The company values diversity and inclusion, believing that a wide range of backgrounds strengthens the team and enhances innovation. Airgas offers employees a supportive workplace where individual contributions matter and growth opportunities abound.

This role is for a Local Delivery Driver position based at Airgas’s Houston, TX Knight Rd. retail shop. As a Service and Delivery Professional, your primary responsibility will be the safe and reliable delivery of compressed gas cylinders to both local and regional business partners. Operating a company-provided straight or box truck from an Airgas branch or plant, you will manage the flow of cylinders and build lasting customer relationships through consistent, high-quality service.

This is a Monday through Friday day shift position offering a competitive wage of $26 per hour, along with quarterly bonus potential. Airgas provides comprehensive family benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance, as well as a 14-week paid childbirth benefit to support growing families. Other benefits include a 401(k) retirement plan with company match, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick time. Benefits eligibility begins just 30 days after employment.

As part of the Airgas team, you will have the opportunity to grow professionally and advance internally within a supportive environment that balances work and life needs. The company prides itself on safety and innovation while maintaining a respectful and inclusive workplace culture. Employees are encouraged to develop personally and professionally while contributing to the company’s success and sustainability efforts.

The Local Delivery Driver role requires careful adherence to Airgas’s SAFECOR safety standards and government regulations, including those from DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA. You will handle cylinder loading, delivery, unloading, and warehouse support duties as necessary. Accurate record-keeping responsibilities include documenting deliveries and pick-ups, obtaining customer signatures, and managing the return of empty or unsold cylinders for refilling. This role demands physical ability to lift materials regularly, and certification such as forklift operator certification is required. Occasional overtime may be necessary.

Overall, this role is ideal for candidates who hold a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Hazmat and Airbrake endorsements, have relevant driving experience, and a demonstrated commitment to safety and customer service. Joining Airgas means becoming part of a team that respects individual differences and strives to provide meaningful career opportunities in a stable, growing company.
