The company fosters a culture rooted in safety, customer success, sustainability, and innovation, empowering its employees to share ideas, take initiative, and make decisions that drive both personal and organizational growth. As part of Air Liquide, a global leader present in 60 countries with around 66,500 employees, Airgas leverages the strengths of a worldwide network serving millions of customers and patients. This connection opens expansive opportunities for professional development while reinforcing a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The Local Delivery Driver (Class A with Hazmat) position at Airgas in San Antonio, TX, is an employment opportunity designed for candidates who appreciate working in a supportive and dynamic environment. This retail shop-based role offers $26 per hour with bonus potential and a Monday through Friday day shift schedule ensuring work-life balance. It is also supported by a comprehensive benefits package that begins after just 30 days of employment and includes medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance. Additional family supports such as paid childbirth benefits and future security measures like a 401(k) retirement plan with company match, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick time create a strong foundation for career longevity.
As a Local Delivery Driver and Service & Delivery Professional for Airgas, the role centers around the safe and efficient handling, transport, and delivery of compressed gas cylinders to a range of customers within the local and regional area. Drivers operate company-provided straight or box trucks from Airgas branches or plant locations, managing the flow of cylinders while building strong and lasting customer relationships. This role is essential in maintaining the supply chain's integrity by ensuring deliveries are completed accurately and safely, with consistent attention to the regulations and compliance standards mandated by government bodies including DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA.
This position requires a commitment to safety practices under Airgas's SAFECOR standards and involves versatile duties encompassing cylinder loading, delivery, unloading, and record-keeping for each trip. Drivers collect empty or unsold cylinders and return them for refilling, while also providing warehouse or dock support when required. Candidates must be able to perform physical labor, routinely lifting weights between 25 and 75 pounds and occasionally heavier loads with equipment. Proficiency in handling hazardous cargo, maintaining valid certifications, and the ability to obtain safety credentials for customer site access are fundamental to success in this role.
Airgas not only values diversity but actively seeks to embody it within its team, committing to inclusion across all its workplaces globally. As a member of their professional team, the delivery driver will benefit from a safety-oriented culture, internal mobility prospects, and an environment that values personal growth and career advancement. This job is an excellent fit for individuals looking to ride with a reputable company, return home daily, and progress further in their career while enjoying the benefits of a stable, family-supportive workplace.
