Job Description
Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a leading supplier in the United States of industrial, medical, and specialty gases, along with hardgoods and related products. It stands as one of the largest U.S. suppliers of safety products and ammonia products, as well as process chemicals. With a workforce of 18,000 diverse associates, Airgas fosters a culture rich in safety, customer success, sustainability, and innovation. As a subsidiary of Air Liquide — a global leader operating in 60 countries and employing approximately 66,500 people serving over 4 million customers — Airgas benefits from an international legacy of excellence in gases, technologies, and services for industry and healthcare sectors.
Joining Airgas means you become part of an inclusive and respectful workplace that values diversity, where your contributions matter significantly. The company is committed to creating an environment that welcomes a wide range of perspectives from employees, customers, patients, and community stakeholders worldwide. This commitment enhances innovation and makes the team stronger and more collaborative. Airgas encourages associates to share ideas freely, take initiative, and make independent decisions within a supportive professional setting that values work-life balance.
The Local Delivery Driver role based in Harvey, Louisiana, operates within a retail shop environment, functioning as a vital ambassador for Airgas. This position emphasizes the safe and reliable delivery of compressed gas cylinders, utilizing company-provided straight or box trucks. Drivers are crucial in managing the flow of cylinders while building enduring customer relationships, representing Airgas’s commitment to consistent, high-quality service.
This is a full-time position offering competitive pay at $26 per hour, with additional monthly bonus potential. The work schedule is structured from Monday to Friday during the day shift. Airgas offers comprehensive family benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D), and disability insurance, demonstrating the company’s holistic approach to employee well-being.
Parents are supported through up to 14 weeks of paid childbirth benefits, and future security is emphasized via a 401(k) retirement plan with company match, tuition assistance programs, paid holidays, vacation, and sick time. Notably, new employees gain early access to benefits after just 30 days of employment, underscoring Airgas’s dedication to timely employee support.
Key responsibilities involve safe loading, delivering, and unloading of compressed gas cylinders; accurate delivery record keeping including customer signatures and cylinder returns; strict adherence to all Airgas SAFECOR safety standards and relevant government regulations (such as DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA); and providing warehouse and dock assistance as needed.
The ideal candidate holds a valid Louisiana Class A Commercial Driver’s License, medical examiner’s card, and certifications for Hazmat and Airbrake. At least one year of professional Class A driving experience within the past five years is required, with a clean driving record. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, capable of reading safety data sheets, and able to lift weights ranging between 25 to over 125 pounds with assistance. Forklift/Moffett operator certification is also a must.
At Airgas, employees benefit from a culture of safety and innovation, and comprehensive training is provided to support growth and internal mobility. The role offers stable home-daily routes and an opportunity to thrive in a top-tier company that values its team members. Airgas promotes equal employment opportunities, embraces diversity in all forms, and is committed to reasonable accommodations to support individuals with disabilities, making it a welcoming employer for all qualified applicants.
