The Local Delivery Driver (CDL w/Hazmat) position in Wichita, KS at Airgas offers a full-time, Monday through Friday day shift employment opportunity. The hourly pay is competitively set at $28, with potential quarterly bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package starting after just 30 days of employment. As a Local Delivery Driver at Airgas, you will operate a company-provided straight or box truck to deliver compressed gas cylinders safely and reliably to local and regional business partners. Your duties will include managing the flow of cylinders, maintaining accurate delivery records, and building strong customer relationships. The job requires adherence to all safety standards, including significant compliance with government regulations such as DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA, ensuring a secure working environment for you and your customers.

Job Requirements

  • Must have a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License
  • Must hold a valid Medical Examiner's Card
  • Hazmat certification can be obtained post-offer
  • Must have at least one year of professional driving experience in the last five years or a diploma from an accredited driving school plus experience
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets
  • Physical ability to lift 25 to 75 lbs routinely and up to 125 lbs occasionally with equipment
  • Must be able to drive hazardous cargo for 8 hours
  • Must be able to work independently and handle pressure
  • Must obtain forklift operator certification
  • Must be able to work occasional overtime

  • One year of prior Class A or B professional driving experience within the last five years with a clean driving record
  • Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets

  • Ability to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Forklift operator certification
  • Ability to work occasional overtime

Job Duties

  • Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to both external and internal customer locations
  • Accurately record deliveries and pick-ups on a load manifest, obtaining customer signatures for receipt
  • Collect empty, rejected, or unsold cylinders and return them to a plant or branch for refilling
  • Adhere to all Airgas safety standards and government regulations, including those from DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA
  • Provide assistance in the warehouse or on the dock as needed
