Job Description

Airgas, an Air Liquide company, stands as a premier supplier in the United States for industrial, medical, and specialty gases, along with hardgoods and related products. Recognized as one of the largest U.S. providers of safety products, Airgas also leads in supplying ammonia products and process chemicals. The company’s workforce includes about 18,000 associates who are embedded in a culture emphasizing safety, customer success, sustainability, and innovation. As a subsidiary of Air Liquide — a global leader in gases, technologies, and services in over 60 countries with roughly 66,500 employees — Airgas benefits from extensive resources and a strong international presence. The combined entity serves millions of customers and patients worldwide.

Joining Airgas means being part of a dynamic, diverse work environment where individual perspectives and backgrounds are highly valued. The company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion not only fosters innovation but also promotes a respectful and supportive workplace for all employees. Airgas partners with employees and communities to create impactful solutions that drive industry standards in both environmental sustainability and operational safety.

The Local Delivery Driver (CDL B) role based in Cheshire, CT, is essential for the safe transportation and delivery of compressed gas cylinders and associated goods between Airgas locations and customers. This full-time, hourly position offers a competitive pay rate of $32.00 per hour, scheduled during weekdays with day shifts from Monday through Friday. Additional compensation includes a Safety Driver Bonus and Gainshare Bonus paid quarterly, reflecting Airgas’ dedication to rewarding safe, reliable, and efficient driving performance.

The role demands strict adherence to safety protocols involving hazardous materials and vehicle operations. The driver will be responsible for the operation of a Class B Hazmat vehicle, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of gases and hardgoods to clients, as well as collecting empty cylinders. Responsibilities also extend to vehicle inspections, documentation accuracy, logistic support for loading and unloading, and maintaining a professional demeanor representing Airgas during customer interactions.

Employees are supported with an extensive benefits package to enhance their overall well-being and future security. This includes medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance, along with parental support such as up to 14 weeks of paid childbirth benefits. Additional benefits encompass a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching funds, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave. Airgas prioritizes early benefit activation, with coverage beginning after just 30 days of employment.

Airgas encourages applications from qualified candidates regardless of background, gender, or personal characteristics, honoring equal employment opportunity principles. The company also provides accommodations for individuals with disabilities during the hiring process. As a professional Local Delivery Driver with a Class B CDL and Hazmat endorsement, you are invited to contribute to a company that values your safety, development, and career growth in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
