Job Description
Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a leading U.S. supplier of industrial, medical, and specialty gases, along with hardgoods and related products. It stands as one of the largest suppliers of safety products and a key provider of ammonia products and process chemicals in the United States. With a workforce of 18,000 associates, Airgas fosters a workplace culture centered around safety, customer success, sustainability, and innovation. The company encourages its employees to share ideas, take initiative, and make decisions, which contributes to creating a dynamic and engaging environment. As a subsidiary of Air Liquide—a global leader in gases, technologies, and services catering to both industry and healthcare sectors—Airgas benefits from the stability and resources of a multinational corporation operating in 60 countries, serving more than four million customers and patients worldwide.
Airgas is currently hiring for a Local Delivery Driver position based in Williston, VT, at its retail shop location. This hourly role offers competitive pay ranging from $30.00 to $32.00 per hour, complemented by several attractive incentives such as a $2,500 sign-on bonus, driver and gain-share quarterly bonuses, and comprehensive family benefits. The position operates Monday through Friday, beginning early in the morning, and supports a full benefits package inclusive of medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance. Additionally, new employees can start accessing these benefits after just 30 days of employment. Airgas also supports parents with up to 14 weeks of paid childbirth benefits and provides future financial security through a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick time.
The Local Delivery Driver role is vital for the safe and efficient transportation of compressed gas cylinders between company locations. Responsibilities include the operation of a Class B Hazmat vehicle to deliver compressed and liquid gas cylinders and hardgoods along predetermined routes. The driver will ensure the secure loading and unloading of materials, meticulous documentation for all transactions including customer signatures, and adherence to hazardous material safety protocols. Beyond transportation duties, the position requires maintaining professional conduct while representing Airgas during customer interactions, managing associate and customer relations with care and professionalism.
Safety remains a core focus in this role, with the driver conducting thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to maintain safety and vehicle reliability. The driver must be capable of handling physical demands such as routinely lifting 25 to 75 pounds and occasionally lifting over 100 pounds, while working safely outdoors in variable weather conditions. This position demands a high level of professionalism and commitment to company policies, including maintaining a drug-free workplace and adhering to all safety regulations. Airgas values diversity and inclusivity, ensuring a work environment that respects and honors the unique perspectives of employees and community stakeholders alike. They actively seek applicants from all backgrounds and are committed to providing equal employment opportunities as well as reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
By joining Airgas, you become part of a respected leader in the industrial gas and safety product industry with an emphasis on innovation and customer satisfaction. This opportunity not only offers a stable and supportive work environment but also a chance to grow your career while making a tangible contribution to a company that values your efforts and individuality.
