The role of a Local Delivery Driver with CDL B at our Worcester, MA location is integral to the operational success of Airgas. This position involves the safe transportation, loading, and unloading of compressed gas cylinders and other related products between designated locations. The delivery driver will operate a Class B Hazmat vehicle, ensuring compliance with hazardous materials regulations and safety standards. This role requires meticulous documentation of all transactions, management of customer interactions to assure satisfaction, and adherence to vehicle safety protocols through thorough pre- and post-trip inspections.

The position is Monday through Friday during day shifts and offers a competitive pay rate of $29.00 per hour. Additionally, drivers are eligible for various bonuses such as quarterly Gain Share and Driver Safety Bonuses. Comprehensive benefits become effective after just 30 days, including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid Class A or B commercial driver license (CDL)
  • HAZMAT endorsement
  • Successful completion of background and motor vehicle check
  • DOT clearinghouse verification from previous employers
  • Minimum 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience within the last 5 years
  • Ability to routinely lift 25 to 75 lbs and occasionally more than 100 lbs
  • Willingness to work outdoors in changing weather conditions
  • Ability to maintain a drug-free workplace
  • Compliance with all safety regulations and company policies

Job Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have a valid Class A or B CDL
  • Must have HAZMAT endorsement
  • Successful completion of Airgas background and motor vehicle check
  • DOT clearinghouse verification from previous employers required
  • At least 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience within the last 5 years
  • Ability to routinely lift 25 to 75 lbs and occasionally lift more than 100 lbs
  • Willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures
  • Ability to maintain a drug-free workplace
  • Adherence to safety regulations and policies
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Touch freight delivery experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Operate a Class B Hazmat vehicle to deliver compressed and liquid gas cylinders and hard goods along designated routes
  • Collect empty cylinders from customers and address inquiries to ensure satisfaction
  • Record all transactions accurately and obtain necessary customer signatures
  • Handle the loading and unloading of all materials
  • Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections noting any issues to ensure safety compliance and vehicle condition
  • Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company during deliveries
  • Adhere to all hazardous material safety protocols and company policies
