Job Description
Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a prominent and leading supplier in the United States specializing in industrial, medical, and specialty gases, along with hardgoods and related safety products. It ranks among the largest U.S. suppliers of safety products, ammonia products, and process chemicals. With approximately 18,000 dedicated associates, Airgas fosters a corporate culture deeply rooted in safety, customer success, sustainability, and innovation. As a subsidiary of Air Liquide, a global leader in gases, technologies, and services for industry and healthcare with a presence in 60 countries and around 66,500 employees, Airgas benefits from a broad international network while maintaining a strong local footprint.
Known for empowering its employees to share ideas, take initiative, and make decisions, Airgas provides a welcoming and inclusive workplace that values diversity and fosters personal and professional growth. The commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive work environment spans across employee perspectives, customers, patients, and community stakeholders.
The Local Delivery Driver role based in Grand Prairie, TX, is a key position within Airgas’s retail shop operations. This full-time, day-shift position offers a competitive hourly wage of $27.50 along with quarterly bonus potential. It also features a Monday through Friday schedule, enabling work/life balance. The role centers on the safe and reliable delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business partners, using company-provided straight or box trucks. The driver will manage the flow of cylinders while developing and maintaining lasting relationships with customers, reflecting Airgas's commitment to customer service.
Delivering cylinders requires precision in loading, delivery, and unloading, while adhering strictly to the numerous safety standards and government regulations set forth by authorities such as DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA. Drivers will also engage in accurate record-keeping, obtaining signatures for deliveries, and managing returns of empty or rejected cylinders back to the branches or plants for refilling. The position may require occasional support within the warehouse or dock areas and occasional overtime.
The company emphasizes safety credentials and compliance, expecting drivers to be certified in Hazmat and airbrake operations, hold a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License, and have a valid medical examiner’s card. The work involves routine physical activity including lifting weights from 25 to over 125 pounds, sometimes with the use of material handling equipment, and requires comfort operating vehicles with hazardous cargo.
Airgas also boasts a robust benefits package that underscores its care for employees and their families. The package includes medical, dental, vision, life, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, disability coverage, and support programs such as paid parental leave, vacation, sick leave, and paid holidays. Employees can also participate in a 401(k) retirement plan with company match, tuition assistance, employee assistance programs, and pre-tax commuter benefits. Benefits are effective as early as 30 days after employment, reinforcing the company's support from day one.
Overall, this Local Delivery Driver opportunity at Airgas offers a chance to join a supportive, dynamic professional team committed to safety and growth. The role is ideal for candidates ready to advance their careers with a top-tier company that values innovation, diversity, and safety, all while providing competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.
