Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a prominent and leading supplier in the United States specializing in industrial, medical, and specialty gases. Additionally, the company provides a wide array of hardgoods and related products, making it one of the largest U.S. safety products suppliers. Airgas also ranks as a top supplier of ammonia products and process chemicals. With a dedicated workforce of approximately 18,000 associates, Airgas fosters a workplace culture deeply rooted in safety, customer success, sustainability, and continuous innovation. The company empowers its employees to share ideas freely, take initiative, and make independent decisions that positively impact their roles and the broader organization.
Airgas operates as a subsidiary of Air Liquide, a global leader in gases, technologies, and services for industry and healthcare sectors. Air Liquide maintains a strong international presence across 60 countries and employs roughly 66,500 people. Together, they serve over 4 million customers and patients, underlining their significant role in the industrial and healthcare markets worldwide.
Airgas is actively hiring for the position of Local Delivery Driver (CDL A) located in Lansing, Michigan, specifically in the Empire-Filling Industrial area. This role is a full-time, Monday through Friday, day-shift opportunity, offering a competitive starting wage of $31.52 per hour. The focus of the position is the safe and reliable delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business partners. As a Service and Delivery Professional, you represent the company as an ambassador, managing cylinder flows while cultivating lasting customer relationships.
This role requires operating company-provided straight or box trucks from Airgas branch or plant locations. The driver is responsible for the loading, delivering, and unloading of cylinders containing compressed gases to both external and internal customers. The role also demands a keen adherence to Airgas’ stringent SAFECOR safety standards and governmental regulations including those from DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA. The ability to provide warehouse and dock support when necessary is also part of the job.
Airgas values personal growth and internal career mobility, offering a supportive professional environment that helps employees balance work and life responsibilities successfully. The company is committed to diversity and inclusion, welcoming applicants regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristics. Airgas fosters a culture where diverse perspectives contribute to innovation and performance excellence.
This position requires a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License, a current Medical Examiner’s Card, and either a Hazmat endorsement or willingness to obtain one. Candidates must have at least one year of professional Class A driving experience within the last five years with a clean driving record, or a diploma from an accredited driving school may be considered. The role involves physical demands including lifting weights ranging from 25 to more than 125 pounds with material handling equipment and being able to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours. The candidate must be at least 21 years old and be able to comprehend safety data sheets. Forklift operator certification is also required.
Airgas offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, disability coverage, life and AD&D insurance, employee assistance programs, commuter benefits, parental leave, and paid holidays. They also provide retirement plans with company matching, tuition reimbursement, and scholarships for employees’ dependents. The company strives to maintain an inclusive workplace and is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to providing reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
