They are particularly supportive of military personnel, veterans, and their families, encouraging a workforce that reflects varied experiences and backgrounds to foster an inclusive and dynamic environment.
The role available at SCP Distributors in Santa Clara, California, offers a unique opportunity to work locally with a reputable segment of POOLCORP. This position is for a Hazmat Driver, who will be responsible for making safe, timely, and accurate deliveries of hazardous materials while ensuring full compliance with the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and other applicable laws. The job provides a starting time of 7:00 am and continues until the day's tasks are completed. The position ensures local deliveries only, guaranteeing that drivers return home every night, a significant benefit that highlights the employer's commitment to work-life balance.
The compensation for this role ranges from $28.50 to $29.50 per hour, supplemented with up to $3,500 in annual bonuses, comprehensive benefits, and a guaranteed minimum of 40 working hours per week regardless of delivery volume. This approach not only secures financial stability but also rewards safe driving and exceptional performance through various bonus programs. Furthermore, the company offers a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, prescription drug coverage with flexible spending accounts, wellness programs, a company-matched 401(k), paid time off including holidays with increases based on tenure, fully paid life and disability insurance, paid parental leave, tuition reimbursement programs, employee recognition, stock purchase plans, and discounts. These benefits demonstrate the organization’s commitment to the health, security, and professional growth of its employees.
In this role, the Hazmat Driver will perform daily responsibilities such as planning and executing deliveries using the most efficient routes, loading and unloading vehicles while securing cargo appropriately, collecting payments, meeting all compliance regulations, conducting thorough vehicle inspections before and after shifts, maintaining vehicle cleanliness and upkeep, continuously increasing product and job knowledge, and performing additional duties as assigned. Emphasis is placed on safety, professionalism, and customer service, with all activities designed to enhance the overall delivery experience.
POOLCORP is inclusive, supportive, and highly respectful of its workforce diversity, making it an ideal place to build a career. They uphold drug-free and equal opportunity employment policies, ensuring a safe and respectful workplace for all employees. This position requires an individual who is at least 21 years old, holds a valid commercial driver's license with a HAZMAT endorsement, has a clean driving record, and possesses the physical ability to handle heavy materials up to 100 pounds. Excellent customer service skills, effective communication, and the ability to operate with minimal supervision are essential. Preference is given to candidates with some experience operating specialized equipment such as Moffett, Skelly, or Air Brake systems.
