Job Description
Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a prominent and leading U.S. supplier of industrial, medical, and specialty gases, along with hardgoods and related products. It is also recognized as one of the largest suppliers of safety products and a main supplier of ammonia products and process chemicals in the U.S. The company's workforce comprises 18,000 passionate and diverse associates who are dedicated to fostering a culture of safety, customer success, sustainability, and innovation. As a subsidiary of Air Liquide, a global leader present in 60 countries with around 66,500 employees and serving over 4 million customers and patients, Airgas operates with a strong emphasis on empowering its associates to share ideas, take initiative, and make decisions that contribute to their success and that of the organization.
The hiring establishment in question is Airgas's retail shop located in Memphis, Tennessee, specifically McCorkle. Airgas strives to cultivate a diverse and inclusive workplace, respecting and valuing different backgrounds which help strengthen and innovate the company. This philosophy extends to the role being offered, the Local CDL Delivery Driver position, which is vital for ensuring that Airgas’s products are delivered safely and efficiently while maintaining excellent customer service. Employment with Airgas offers a competitive pay starting at $28 per hour along with quarterly and referral bonus opportunities. This role operates Monday through Friday, with the possibility of alternating weekends, and involves driving a Class B Hazmat vehicle.
The Local CDL Delivery Driver’s responsibilities include delivering compressed and liquid gas cylinders and hard goods along scheduled routes, collecting empty cylinders, handling customer transactions and inquiries, performing pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Additionally, the driver is expected to carry out loading and unloading tasks and maintain the vehicle’s cleanliness and operational condition. This physically demanding role requires stamina and the ability to routinely lift heavy loads, often between 25 to 75 pounds and occasionally over 125 pounds with the help of material handling equipment. The driver frequently bends and drives for extended hours, transporting hazardous cargo safely and responsibly.
Airgas offers a full benefits package designed to support employees and their families, including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance. The company also provides up to 14 weeks of paid childbirth benefits for parents, a 401(k) retirement plan with company match, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick time. Employees gain early access to their benefits, starting just 30 days after employment begins.
Being an Airgas associate means becoming part of a workplace that values individual differences and promotes innovation through diversity. The company is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity in all aspects. It welcomes applicants of all backgrounds and provides reasonable accommodations during the hiring process if requested.
Overall, this position offers not only a competitive paycheck but also a meaningful career path in a respected company where safety, sustainability, and customer satisfaction are top priorities. Individuals interested in logistics, transportation, and customer service with a CDL Class B and Hazmat endorsement will find this role rewarding and integral to Airgas’s ongoing success and service excellence.
