The Local CDL B Driver position in Miami, FL, is an essential role within Airgas. The driver is responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers using company-provided CDL B vehicles. This role involves daily loading, unloading, and returning of gas cylinders while maintaining frequent contact with Airgas customers. The driver will perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and ensure that deliveries are completed in a timely and professional manner. Responsibilities also include securing cylinders safely, utilizing hand carts on customer sites, and managing the physically active nature of the job, requiring frequent movement in and out of the vehicle and handling materials weighing up to 75 pounds regularly.
Airgas offers a consistent, predictable work schedule from Monday to Friday, with starting times between 4 am and 7 am, and occasional weekend flexibility. Job Requirements
- Valid Class A or B CDL with HAZMAT and Airbrake endorsements
- Hazmat certification is required
- Must maintain appropriate driver's license, medical card, and endorsements
- No more than two traffic convictions or two at-fault accidents in the last 3 years or combination of one conviction and one at-fault accident
- No driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances within the last 7 years
- Ability to work in a drug-free environment
- Ability to regularly lift 75lbs and move more than 125lbs with the aid of material handling equipment
- Minimum of 1 year CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or recent trucking school completion
Job Qualifications
- Valid Class A or B CDL with HAZMAT and Airbrake endorsements
- Hazmat certification is required
- Maintain appropriate driver's license, medical card, and endorsements
- No more than two traffic convictions or two at-fault accidents in the last 3 years
- No driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances in the last 7 years
- Able to regularly lift 75lbs and move more than 125lbs with material handling equipment
- At least one year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or certificate of completion from trucking school within last 12 months
- Forklift experience preferred
- 5 years of CDL B driving experience preferred
Job Duties
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Load and unload the truck daily with gas cylinders and supplies
- Nurture courteous and professional relationships with customers
- Support deliveries in a timely manner
- Safely secure and unsecure cylinders
- Complete deliveries on customer property sites using a hand cart
- Frequently move in and out of the vehicle during deliveries
