Job Description
Lazer Logistics is a nationally recognized leader in yard management and logistics services, operating across the United States and Canada with a dedicated workforce of over 6,000 employees. Renowned for its commitment to safety, sustainability, and employee satisfaction, Lazer Logistics has established itself as a reliable partner in the transportation and logistics industry. The company prioritizes a stable, supportive work environment that promotes consistent schedules and predictable workflows, making it an attractive employer for individuals seeking long-term career opportunities in logistics.
Lazer Logistics specializes in innovative yard management solutions that enhance supply chain efficiency while reducing environmental impacts through the use of advanced technologies such as electric yard trucks. The company has logged over 2 million zero-emission miles, underscoring its dedication to sustainable practices. Employee ownership programs and opportunities for career advancement into leadership roles further distinguish Lazer Logistics as a company invested in its workforce and their professional growth.
The Local Yard Driver position at Lazer Logistics offers one of the most consistent and dependable commercial driving job experiences available. Unlike traditional CDL driving roles that involve long routes, multiple stops, and being away from home for extended periods, this job keeps you within a controlled yard environment where you move trailers safely and efficiently. This role is targeted at drivers who value predictability in their workday including fixed start and end times, steady hours, and the comfort of returning home daily. There is no customer delivery, no touch freight, and minimal road driving or highway traffic.
Employees in this position operate well-maintained, modern equipment, including electric yard trucks, emphasizing safety and minimal environmental impact. Drivers perform routine vehicle inspections and follow all company and regulatory safety policies to maintain operational excellence. Communication and teamwork are vital components of the job as drivers collaborate with dispatchers, team members, and third-party vendors to ensure smooth yard operations.
Pay for this role is competitive, with Class A drivers starting at $25.00 per hour plus a $1.00 shift differential, and non-CDL drivers starting at $23.00 per hour plus the shift differential. Opportunities for overtime after 40 hours, weekly pay, and an attractive referral bonus program supplement the base pay. Lazer Logistics also offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) plan with company match, paid time off, holidays, disability coverage, employee assistance programs, and optional pet and voluntary insurance plans.
Working at Lazer Logistics means being part of a forward-thinking company that values safety, respect, and a positive work culture. The company's employee ownership program enables team members to have a stake in the company, fostering a sense of pride and investment in their work. With ample opportunities for career advancement into lead and management positions, Lazer Logistics provides a supportive and growth-oriented workplace for dedicated drivers. If you are looking for a commercial driving job that balances consistent routines with competitive compensation and benefits, while minimizing stress and enhancing quality of life, the Local Yard Driver role at Lazer Logistics could be your ideal career choice.
