This job opportunity is for Local CDL-A and CDL-B Drivers based in Hartford, CT. The position offers home daily routes, an average annual pay starting at $65,000 with potential earnings up to $78,000 or more based on performance and experience, making it financially rewarding. The role features a 3-day workweek schedule, specifically Monday, Friday, and Saturday, with start times ranging from 12:30 AM to 4:00 AM until routes are completed. Drivers in this role play a critical part in FreshPoint’s operational success, ensuring timely and efficient deliveries of fresh food products to customers. The job is not only about driving but also involves careful handling and delivering of products using hand trucks, verifying deliveries with customers, managing customer relations professionally, and occasionally assisting with loading and palletizing during operations.
The role requires a high level of responsibility and adherence to safety regulations, including performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- valid CDL Class B license (Class A preferred)
- minimum 1 year of route delivery experience or equivalent
- ability to communicate effectively in English
- ability to handle physical job demands including lifting up to 100 pounds
- ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections as per DOT regulations
- reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
Job Qualifications
- High school or GED equivalent
- 1-year route delivery experience or applicable background driving a straight truck
- valid commercial driver’s license - Class B (Class A preferred)
- must have the ability to read and speak English sufficiently
- operate vehicle in a variety of traffic and weather conditions
- meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the company
- meet or exceed established cases per error goals
- demonstrate strong customer relations and problem resolution skills
- effectively plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision
Job Duties
- Provide technical, customer relations, and personnel management for major programs and projects
- runs routes efficiently, meeting or exceeding designated route times
- unload product from trailer, by hand or using a hand cart, and place in designated customer storage areas
- frequently lift, push, or move product that weighs 1-75 pounds, up to 100 pounds
- frequently reach up to 72 inches to stack and unstack pallets and hand cart
- constantly bend and twist while loading and unloading product, and retrieving items from trailer
- verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
- contact management for authorization when discrepancies are on invoices
- communicate all errors and returns
- calls in when a customer does not receive their entire order
- handles any customer complaints professionally
- handles company equipment properly, follow written driver safety rules, and performs a pre-trip inspection
- perform pre-trip and post-trip responsibilities in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and Sysco policies and procedures
