We are currently hiring for the position of Local CDL-A and CDL-B Drivers in Hartford, CT. This opportunity is designed for professional drivers who seek local routes that allow them to be home daily, maintaining a healthy work-life balance with a unique three-day workweek schedule. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum 1-year route delivery experience or applicable truck driving background
- Valid CDL Class B license (Class A preferred)
- Ability to read and speak English
- Ability to lift and move heavy products up to 100 pounds
- Must be able to work early morning shift hours
- Must have a good driving record
- Capable of performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Comply with all Department of Transportation regulations
- Must handle customer interactions professionally
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Ability to operate hand trucks and other material handling equipment
- Willingness to work a 3-day work week schedule
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 1-year route delivery experience or applicable background driving a straight truck
- Valid Commercial Driver's License - Class B (Class A preferred)
- Ability to read and speak English sufficiently
- Ability to operate vehicle in various traffic and weather conditions
- Strong customer relations and problem resolution skills
- Ability to plan and organize work activities independently
Job Duties
- Provide technical, customer relations, and personnel management for major programs and projects
- Runs routes efficiently, meeting or exceeding designated route times
- Unload product from trailer, by hand or using a hand cart, and place in designated customer storage areas including transporting product down ramps, stairs, or docks in all weather conditions
- Frequently lift, push, or move product weighing 1-75 pounds, up to 100 pounds
- frequently reach up to 72 inches to stack and unstack pallets and hand carts
- constantly bend and twist while loading and unloading product, and retrieving items from trailer
- Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
- contact management for authorization when discrepancies are on invoices
- Communicate all errors and returns
- Call in when a customer does not receive their entire order
- Handle customer complaints professionally
- Handle company equipment properly, follow written driver safety rules, and perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations and Sysco policies and procedures
