Job Description
The hiring company is a major food service distributor that serves the Metro DC area, specializing in delivering a wide range of food service products to various clients. This company is known for its commitment to providing quality food delivery services and has built a strong reputation within the region for reliability and professionalism. Located in Manassas, Virginia, this distributor focuses on local route deliveries designed to facilitate timely and efficient service. The company values experienced drivers who can maintain high standards of safety and customer service while managing demanding physical labor associated with food delivery. This direct hire opportunity specifically targets CDL A drivers who are looking to join a stable and growing transportation team with competitive compensation and benefits.
The role offered is a Local CDL A Delivery Driver position within the food service sector. This position entails driving local routes based out of Manassas, VA, with routes covering up to a 2-hour radius around the Metro DC area. Drivers can expect to handle physically demanding loads, which typically include between 700-900 cases per delivery, with each case weighing up to 80 pounds. The role requires unloading and sorting food service orders meticulously, using tools such as two-wheeled hand carts or pallet jacks to assist with deliveries. Drivers make 10-15 stops per day, delivering to various client locations, and are responsible for accurately loading and handling orders to ensure product safety and integrity.
The position offers a comprehensive pay structure starting at $34.00 per hour during an initial 3-4 week training period. Upon completion of training, drivers receive a component pay system that compensates them based on stops made, miles driven, and cases handled. Daily minimum pay guarantees $320 per day with an average annual earning potential of up to $110,000. Additionally, experienced food service drivers may qualify for a retention bonus ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 paid within the first year. The schedule requires availability from Monday through Saturday, with Sundays off. Start times vary between 10:00 PM and 4:30 AM, requiring full flexibility from the candidate. Total workweek hours can reach up to 70 hours, with routes scheduled for approximately 10.5 hours and extendable to 14 hours as needed.
This role offers candidates a chance to grow their career in a demanding but rewarding environment, supporting the efficient distribution of food products to clientele within a fast-paced industry. Ideal candidates will be safety-conscious, physically fit, and highly reliable professionals dedicated to meeting route schedules and providing excellent customer service, with a focus on maintaining vehicle and delivery integrity throughout their workday. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance available shortly after employment, life insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, and a stock purchase program, making this an attractive opportunity for drivers seeking stable, long-term employment in the food service delivery industry.
