Job Description
City of Hope Orange County is a renowned healthcare institution dedicated to transforming cancer treatment by bringing world-class expertise and specialized care closer to patients' homes. Located in Irvine, California, City of Hope Orange County operates an impressive 11-acre academic cancer campus that includes the City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, an outpatient cancer center, and the only cancer specialty hospital in Orange County. This robust regional network of care provides patients with access to cutting-edge cancer treatments without the burden of traveling long distances, ensuring that lifesaving treatment is readily accessible within the community.
The cornerstone of City of Hope Orange County's services is its newly opened hospital, which offers a full continuum of advanced cancer care ranging from prevention through survivorship. This milestone is significant as it is the first facility in Orange County to provide such comprehensive cancer care including advanced surgical suites, groundbreaking clinical trials, 73 inpatient beds, and holistic services such as rehabilitative therapy and spiritual care. The hospital is seamlessly connected to the outpatient cancer center, enabling a cohesive and patient-centered approach to cancer treatment. City of Hope’s commitment to excellence is evident in every aspect of care, making it a beacon of hope for patients and families confronting cancer.
The role of the City of Hope Lobby Ambassador is pivotal in delivering an exceptional patient experience. As the first point of contact for patients and visitors arriving on the Duarte Campus, the Lobby Ambassador’s responsibilities center on providing high-level customer service. This includes greeting patients, assisting with mobility, offering wayfinding support, and connecting families to City of Hope’s extensive resources. The position acts as a critical liaison between the valet parking areas and patient registration or hospital destinations, ensuring smooth transitions and reducing stress for patients and caregivers alike.
In addition to greeting and directing visitors, the Lobby Ambassador may use electric vehicles or wheelchairs to transport patients from parking or valet areas to their destinations within the hospital or outpatient facilities. This role demands excellent interpersonal skills, safety awareness, and a deep commitment to the values upheld by City of Hope. The successful candidate must demonstrate patience, kindness, and a willingness to assist others consistently, embodying the spirit of compassionate care that defines the institution.
Further responsibilities may include working in ancillary areas such as the gift shop, ensuring all visitors receive a warm and welcoming experience throughout their time on the campus. The position offers an opportunity to be part of a dedicated team that is deeply invested in creating a positive and supportive environment for patients battling cancer. City of Hope Orange County values diversity and inclusion, actively fostering an environment where every team member's contributions are respected and valued.
City of Hope employees’ pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location of work. The institution is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, committed to providing comprehensive benefits that support the well-being and professional growth of its staff. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about helping others and looking to make a meaningful impact in the healthcare sector by improving the overall patient experience at one of the leading cancer care facilities in the nation.
