Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- proven experience in a similar kitchen leadership role
- strong culinary skills and knowledge of food safety standards
- leadership experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
- excellent communication and organizational skills
- ability to manage budgets and inventory effectively
Job Qualifications
- Proven experience as a head chef, sous chef, or kitchen manager in a high-volume environment
- strong leadership and team management skills
- excellent culinary skills with a focus on quality, presentation, and consistency
- knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen operations
- ability to work evenings, weekends, and during live events
- strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Job Duties
- Plan, develop, and execute menus that reflect The Van Buren brand and meet guest expectations
- manage all kitchen operations including prep, cooking, plating, and cleanup
- hire, train, and supervise kitchen staff providing coaching and performance feedback
- ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
- monitor inventory, place orders, and manage food costs to meet budgetary goals
- collaborate with event and operations teams to coordinate food service for concerts, private events, and special functions
- maintain a positive, productive, and safe work environment in the kitchen
- handle scheduling, staffing, and daily operational challenges efficiently
