This position as Head Chef / Kitchen Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations at The Van Buren, ensuring exceptional food quality and a memorable dining experience for guests attending various live events. The individual in this role will be tasked with planning, developing, and executing innovative menus that align with The Van Buren’s brand identity and meet guest expectations. The role demands strong culinary expertise combined with effective leadership skills to manage kitchen staff, streamline operations, and maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation.
The Head Chef / Kitchen Manager will be actively involved in every aspect of the kitchen operations, including preparation, cooking, plating, and cleanup, ensuring food service is timely and consistent during concerts, private events, and special functions. A vital part of the role involves recruiting, training, and supervising kitchen personnel, fostering a positive and productive work environment, and providing coaching and feedback to enhance team performance. This role also requires close collaboration with event and operations teams to coordinate food service logistics efficiently.
Financial management plays an essential role, as the Head Chef will monitor inventory, manage food costs, and place orders to meet budgetary goals without compromising quality. Given the fast-paced and high-energy environment of live entertainment events, the candidate must possess strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills to handle operational challenges smoothly. Working evenings, weekends, and during live events is a necessity given the nature of the entertainment business.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- proven experience in a similar kitchen leadership role
- strong culinary skills and knowledge of food safety standards
- leadership experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
- excellent communication and organizational skills
- ability to manage budgets and inventory effectively
