Job Description
Eastern States Exposition (ESE), home to The Big E, is the largest agricultural fair in New England and one of the premier agricultural events in the nation. The Big E is a multisectoral fair that celebrates the rich agricultural heritage of the region, showcasing the best in livestock, produce, crafts, and entertainment. Established decades ago, ESE serves as a hub for agricultural education, community engagement, and regional economic activity, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. By promoting the agricultural industries of New England, ESE supports farmers, livestock exhibitors, and agricultural organizations dedicated to maintaining the region's vibrant rural culture and industry.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Livestock Program Coordinator to join our Agriculture Department full-time. This important role is instrumental in preserving and advancing agriculture in New England by coordinating competitive livestock events held during The Big E annually and throughout the year. The individual in this position will collaborate closely with a diverse range of stakeholders, including livestock exhibitors, volunteers, breed associations, agricultural organizations, and internal ESE staff, to deliver well-organized and engaging livestock shows. The coordinator will be responsible for managing entries, registration processes, scheduling, compliance, and communications with exhibitors to ensure a seamless experience for all participants.
The Livestock Program Coordinator is also tasked with building and maintaining strong partnerships that enhance livestock events and contribute to the educational programming at The Big E. This includes recruiting and coordinating judges, assisting in the creation of annual livestock show schedules, and working closely with state and federal animal health officials to maintain rigorous biosecurity standards and regulatory compliance throughout livestock events. Beyond event management, the role offers opportunities to support agricultural education with engaging exhibits and programs designed to increase public awareness and foster community involvement in production agriculture.
This position requires someone with outstanding organizational skills, a passion for agriculture, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The coordinator must excel in customer service and communication, possess strong leadership qualities, and be adept at problem solving. Comfort working both in a professional office setting and outdoors in agricultural environments such as livestock barns and event grounds is essential. The role offers a unique chance to make a meaningful impact on New England’s agricultural community while being part of a historic and dynamic organization.
The position offers a competitive salary ranging from $58,000 to $82,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The employment includes a comprehensive benefits package detailed further below. We encourage applicants who are passionate about supporting agriculture and who thrive in collaborative, community-centered roles to apply. The priority application deadline is July 31, 2026, with an anticipated start date in August 2026. Join a team dedicated to celebrating, promoting, and advancing New England agriculture through one of the largest and most respected fairs in the country.
