Job Description
Rocket Farm Restaurants is a renowned hospitality company committed to fostering a positive and respectful work environment. Central to its culture is the philosophy, "We serve the person who is serving the guest," emphasizing dignity, respect, and care among team members, especially within the kitchen staff. Rocket Farm Restaurants operates multiple locations and prides itself on delivering high-quality dining experiences through a dedicated and supportive workplace culture. The company's approach is rooted in the belief that the internal treatment of employees directly influences the service quality extended to guests, promoting an ethical and collaborative working atmosphere that extends from kitchen to dining room. This dedication to valuing employees ensures that team members are empowered, supported, and motivated to excel in their roles, which contributes to the continuing success of the brand across its various locations.
Within this esteemed company, Little Sparrow stands out as an inspired dining establishment in the Rocket Farm family. Drawing inspiration from Parisian bistros and classic Brooklyn neighborhood taverns, Little Sparrow offers a unique blend of high-level service with an approachable, unpretentious ambiance. Named after Edith Piaf and honoring the local legacy with neighboring Marcel restaurant, Little Sparrow provides guests with the opportunity to enjoy refined cuisine or casual favorites such as a perfect medium-rare burger and fries. The restaurant embodies a dynamic fusion of classic style and contemporary hospitality, creating an inviting atmosphere that caters to a diverse clientele seeking either a polished dining experience or a comfortable casual meal.
Little Sparrow is currently seeking a driven and attentive Executive Sous Chef to join its team. This key leadership role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, which involves managing multiple facets such as food production and preparation, private parties, special events, stewarding, purchasing, and receiving. The Executive Sous Chef ensures that all culinary staff uphold the highest standards in menu item creation and that kitchen operations run smoothly, particularly in the absence of the Executive Chef. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to maintain composure under pressure, lead a cohesive and motivated team, manage culinary budgets effectively, and diligently monitor labor, scheduling, and overtime to maximize productivity and guest satisfaction. The role requires a seasoned culinary professional with at least five years of progressive experience, including a minimum of two years in a Sous Chef capacity.
The position offers a competitive salary range from $70,000 to $85,000 annually, depending on the candidate's experience, complemented by a generous quarterly bonus program. Full benefit eligibility begins just 30 days following employment, providing employees with access to major medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage. Beyond financial and health benefits, Rocket Farm Restaurants emphasizes a supportive culture and ethical work environment where team members have access to dynamic career advancement opportunities through performance-based raises and promotions.
Employees at Little Sparrow and Rocket Farm Restaurants also enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that promotes work-life balance, including paid time off, childbirth recovery leave, parental leave, and significant long-term retention bonuses. Time off on most major holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day is standard, allowing employees to rest and celebrate with their families. Additionally, staff receive a 50 percent discount at all Rocket Farm Restaurant locations across multiple cities, enriching their culinary experience.
The company further invests in the growth and success of its team members through Rocket Farm University, offering specialized leadership classes and personalized support for career advancement. Employees can also participate in mentorship programs, an advisory council, and a safety committee, creating an inclusive and engaging work environment. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, Rocket Farm Restaurants is dedicated to fostering a respectful, diverse, and equitable workplace for all applicants and employees, in compliance with federal employment laws and regulations. This commitment ensures that every team member, including the Executive Sous Chef, is valued and supported throughout their career journey.
