Job Description
Rocket Farm Restaurants is a renowned hospitality group that prides itself on a culture deeply rooted in mutual respect, dignity, and care. This ethos is encapsulated in their core philosophy: "We serve the person who is serving the guest." Rather than merely a policy applied on the restaurant floor, this philosophy permeates every layer of the organization, beginning with how colleagues treat each other in the kitchen environment. The team at Rocket Farm Restaurants believes that the same level of respect and service extended to guests should be reflected in interactions among staff members, fostering a workplace where individuals feel valued and supported. This commitment to a positive work environment contributes significantly to the exceptional dining experiences offered at their establishments. Little Rey, a vibrant, ultra-casual restaurant inspired by Northern Mexican cuisine, is one of the standout concepts within the Rocket Farm family. Known for its signature wood-roasted "chicken al carbon" and lively ambiance, Little Rey embodies innovation and cultural authenticity within the Southern dining scene. The restaurant is seeking a detail-oriented Executive Sous Chef to join its culinary team and contribute to its thriving success.
The Executive Sous Chef at Little Rey will play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the entire kitchen. This includes managing production and prep areas, coordinating private parties and special events, as well as stewarding and overseeing purchasing and receiving functions. The Executive Sous Chef ensures that every dish leaves the kitchen at the highest culinary standard, maintaining the integrity of Little Rey's menu and guest experience. This role is crucial in maintaining smooth kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef, demanding leadership qualities capable of inspiring a cohesive and high-performing culinary team. The ideal candidate must thrive under pressure, balancing the art of culinary excellence with practical management skills. With responsibility for managing the culinary budget, the Executive Sous Chef is expected to control labor costs through efficient scheduling and overtime monitoring, maximizing productivity without compromising guest satisfaction. This position requires a minimum of five years of progressive culinary experience, with at least two years served in a Sous Chef capacity, showcasing a track record of professional growth and leadership in kitchen management. In return, Rocket Farm Restaurants offers a competitive salary ranging from $70,000 to $85,000 annually, based on experience, complemented by a generous quarterly bonus program. Full benefits eligibility begins after 30 days of employment, including major medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Beyond compensation, team members enjoy a supportive culture and an ethical work environment, emphasizing career development through dynamic performance-based raises, promotions, and initiatives like Rocket Farm University, which provides specialized leadership training and mentorship programs. Employees also benefit from paid time off, childbirth recovery and parental leave, significant long-term retention bonuses, and time off on most major holidays. Additionally, employees receive a 50% discount at all Rocket Farm Restaurants across multiple cities, creating a well-rounded and rewarding package for culinary professionals committed to excellence and teamwork. With a clear emphasis on respect, quality, and growth, joining Little Rey offers not just a job but a fulfilling career opportunity within a leading Southern hospitality group.
