They are also responsible for maintaining product displays, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and company policies. The associate must also maintain a safe and appealing work environment, manage backroom inventory and security, and occasionally operate cash registers. Job Requirements

  • Must be of legal age to consume alcoholic beverages in the jurisdiction
  • Must take and pass certification training program and continue ongoing training
  • Must have good communication skills, leadership and interpersonal abilities
  • Must maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers
  • Must have knowledge of liquor products and popular drink recipes
  • Must be able to handle physical tasks such as lifting, bending and standing
  • Should comply with company, division and store policies and applicable laws
  • Ability to work in occasional cooler temperatures of 35-40 degrees Fahrenheit

Job Duties

  • Build and encourage superior guest service, provide continuous attention to guest needs in a prompt, courteous and friendly manner
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques with knowledgeable suggestions and professionalism
  • Utilize social media tools to help drive guest loyalty and sales
  • Be knowledgeable on wine regions, grapes, vineyards and vintages and offer appropriate food pairings
  • Be acquainted with spirits and spirit cocktails including recipes and ingredients
  • Maintain good knowledge of beer, party planning and store amenities
  • Engage in continuous education on wine, spirits and beer through ongoing training
  • Stock and rotate products to ensure freshness
  • Restock and efficiently use supply items to reduce waste
  • Order wine from vendors and place specialty orders
  • Restock racks and build visual case displays
  • Order, receive, check and control inventory for quantity and quality
  • Maintain awareness of seasonal and promotional merchandising
  • Interpret reports and complete paperwork
  • Operate checkstand equipment including cash register and scanner
  • Ensure proper cash handling and sales accounting
  • Control costs and quality, prevent shrink and ensure compliance with product handling and signage
  • Maintain a safe work environment and sanitation of the department
  • Ensure compliance with liquor sales laws
  • Monitor backroom inventory and security
  • Use equipment like box cutters, compactors, hand trucks and pallet jacks
  • Perform all duties with honesty and integrity
  • Carry out other necessary and required duties
